Proposed ‘flytilla’ protest from Tel Aviv to Damascus

B’nai Brith Canada to anti-Israel agitators: “Change your flight”

Toronto, 12 April 2012 – B’nai Brith Canada is calling on French anti-Israel activists to change the destination of their proposed ‘flytilla’ protest from Tel Aviv to Damascus, where the real human rights abuses are taking place, or to abandon their plans altogether.

“If protest organizers truly feel the need to protect those in harm’s way through such a stunt, they would be best served redirecting their flights to Damascus where human rights abuses are taking place on an unprecedented scale,” stated Frank Dimant, CEO of B’nai Brith Canada. “Protesters should rather show the international community that they are prepared to expose one of the world’s most pressing atrocities, the ruthless murder of over 9,000 civilians under the Assad regime. “Recent failed protests by aggressive anti-Israel agitators have merely demonstrated to the international community that these individuals make the conscious choice to ignore the real human rights abuses taking place in the Middle East region. This ‘flytilla’ protest, a continuation of the coordinated and ongoing demonization campaign to provoke the Jewish State and challenge its sovereignty, will in no way advance the road to peace.”
