Throughout modern history state funded broadcasting corporations and giant Western news organisations have supported some of the worst socialist regimes on the planet.
Canada’s regime media now takes as much pleasure in persecuting conservatives as do their fellow-travellers in the USA.
Consequently, Donald Trump is the current target of choice for the cabal of liberal-progressive scribblers who dominate the international press corps.
In the wake of the Trump indictments the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation wasted no time in supporting regime media networks in the USA. They despise everything Trump stands for and want to see him die in prison.
A leading CBC story explained “Why Donald Trump’s latest indictment is the most significant.” Another breathlessly anticipated “How Pence’s detailed notes could play a role in latest Trump charges.” Washington correspondent, Alexander Panetta, asserted that Trump “knew he was lying” when he challenged the results of the 2020 election.
Progressive North American pundits reject any presumption of Trump’s innocence. They want a speedy trial and a certain conviction.
The international Left is considerably less curious about Democrat misconduct. Behaviour recognised as corrupt by scores of common citizens is summarily dismissed as no big deal in Washington newsrooms.
In a recent statement to congress, Hunter Biden’s business associate Devon Archer said that President Joe Biden was present on speakerphone during multiple gatherings with his son’s foreign business associates.
Shortly after Archer’s testimony CBC’s Washington correspondent acknowledged that Joe Biden made misleading statements about his family's business. “But" he continued, “there is no evidence, only disputed allegations, about whether he himself got any money from his son's wheeling and dealing.” Another Republican “nothing burger.”
A year ago the same CBC columnist produced “a checklist on the Biden presidency.” He acknowledged that Joe Biden started that summer in trouble but was quick to declare that the President had turned it all around and was “suddenly on a winning streak.”
The editorial positions of Canadian broadcasters like CBC and CTV are almost always in sync with those of American networks like CNN and MSNBC. So much for independent analysis from Canada.

There are independent journalists who view the criminalisation of political opposition as a harbinger of danger.
In the summer of 2019 I penned “A View from Canada” in The Epoch Times. I said then that “US Democrats Should Worry Us All.” I argued that turning over America to a faction of aging progressives and misinformed young socialists would prove to be a disaster for the Free World.
Later that year a Wuhan bio lab engineered an infectious new virus and the CCP delivered it to the world. Early in 2020 draconian pandemic measures shut down businesses, interrupted education, suspended civil liberties and profoundly altered the course of American politics.
In the context of the “ Covid emergency” the Democrat Party took advice offered by former Obama White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel. At a Wall Street Journal conference days after Obama’s inauguration Emanuel said: “You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that: it's an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”
Some claim that Emanuel wasn't referring to partisan gain, but the Democrat Party’s actions told another story. Militants did a lot of things they had not been able to do before.
Radical Democrat attorneys like Marc Elias set out to rig the electoral system and most Republicans were too intimidated to stop him.
So called “crisis measures” disrupted the American electoral process. The Democrat Party encouraged mass early voting, distributed millions of unsolicited mail-in ballots and provided for post-election day ballot deliveries.
The departure from dependable voting practices produced a predictable outcome. Over several days of Democrat controlled ballot counting Trump’s 2020 election day victories were overturned by late votes for Joe Biden.
Shortly after the suspicious results dribbled in I argued that too many of our American friends had “forgotten the necessary and sufficient conditions for fair elections.” Democrats got away with it because most of the international press corps had their backs.
Many thought 2020 was a monumental political swindle but the dominant anti-Trump media discouraged jurists from allowing election fraud charges to be examined by courts.
When a peaceful January 6th “stop the steal rally” was interrupted by protestors entering the Capital Trump supporters were accused of “insurrection” and it was all over. Ambitious Republican hopefuls threw their leader under the bus and began positioning themselves for 2024.
Some of us warned that a Democrat win would not serve America well and it hasn’t. On the day Joe Biden entered the White House he took a wrecking ball to middle America.
The President’s climate policies are driving energy costs through the roof. Inflation is killing family buying power. Criminals are out of control. Millions of illegal immigrants burden scarce civic resources.
Education standards are worse than ever. Drag queens perform for elementary school children and university students are running anyone they disagree with off campus.
An army of woke activist are stoking racial and gender divisions. US defence capabilities are dubious. Federal agencies have been weaponised and the FBI has become a para-military arm of the US Department of Justice.
Democrat Party prosecutors are now taking great pleasure in imprisoning political opponents.
South of our border Americans are bullied more by deep state activists than their forefathers were by British troops. Todays “redcoats” wear black and call themselves anti-fascists, but they are just as intimidating.
In Canada we have similar conditions presided over by a liberal-socialist coalition that manipulates public opinion from its urban fortresses in central Canada.
There can be no “will of the people” without a trustworthy electoral system to measure it and a free press that will report the truth about all significant developments during an election campaign.
For decades neo-Marxist opinion-makers have sought to malign Anglo-American traditions, ridicule common people and undermine our confidence.
The suppression of the Biden family’s pay-for-play scandals is a potent example of the international media’s willingness to hide inconvenient facts.
It is borderless ideologues who are the real threat to democracy and their influence must be overcome.
