Among the dead this weekend, Nykea Aldridge, first cousin of NBA star Dwyane Wade, caught in the crossfire. Murders are up 49 percent this year versus last year, and 81 percent over the same time period in 2014. However, not much has been said, Obama plays more rounds of golf, and Hillary? Well, she’s just like everyone. No one remembers the names and faces of those gunned down, regardless of age, until now. The tragic shooting death of NBA superstar Dwayne Wade’s cousin may be a tipping point. This isn’t not about the gun; it’s about the real cancer that has invaded the black community. It is about what really “oppresses” blacks in America — the decimation of the black family. First, it has to sadden us and we must feel deep sorrow for a mother who was walking her child, only to be gunned down in cold blood. It reminds me of the incident in Brunswick, Georgia where the little son of Sherry West, Antonio, was shot in the face.
