British couple opens art school in France

A British couple is launching a painting school in France.

A few years ago Mike and Suzie Hall from Hampshire purchased a run down town house in Limousin and set to work renovating it themselves. This came as second nature to Mike, a set designer for Thames Television for many years. Now the project is complete it will provide the husband and wife team with an alternative venue for teaching budding artists. “We both run classes at our studio in Charter Alley, a village outside Basingstoke, which are well attended and these will still run throughout the year,” says Mike, a successful artist, whose work is in collections throughout the UK and Europe. “But travel is important for artists who need inspiration and for us France provides that in terms of the landscape and the light. The few intensive weekly art classes in our house in France in the spring and early summer will provide a fabulous opportunity for artists to learn skills that it’s taken me a lifetime to acquire in a country associated with the likes of Monet and Renoir. I’m still learning every day and trying new techniques all the time. It will make a change from holding classes in Charter Alley and help with the upkeep of the house,” adds Mike, who will be catering for various levels of abilities. The intensive painting courses will take place at: 6 place de L'eglise Mezieres-sur Issoir, in the Haut-Vienne area of the Limousin.
