Buc-ee’s CEO Makes It Clear That Conservative Appreciation, Not Democratic Destruction, Is The Future

When a company as revered as Buc-ee’s makes such specific statements not just about the politics of certain states, but the attitudes those politics breed, the honesty and raw truthfulness is refreshing;

Buc-ee's is a massive and highly popular chain of mega travel centers and convenience stores, known for dozens of fuel pumps, exceptionally clean restrooms, and a vast selection of food and merchandise. Their mascot is a smiling cartoon beaver named Bucky, who appears on a wide range of apparel, souvenirs, and snacks.

Their locations feature over 100 fueling positions and sprawling convenience stores that hold world records for their size. They are also famous for the restrooms, which are celebrated for being gigantic, modern, and meticulously clean.

The locations are truly unique. Semi-trucks are not allowed on the property, so the massive parking lots are reserved exclusively for passenger vehicles. Inside, they have a meat counter serving fresh brisket and a variety of smoked meats, a jerky bar with a huge selection of flavors, and a bakery and fudge area with fresh-baked pastries.

Having or getting a Buc-ee's in your state is a big deal, and when the CEO has an epiphany about states they want to build in going forward, it’s a proclamation that people should pay attention to.

The travel center chain founded in Texas has expressed its political and economic preferences through statements from its leadership, demonstrating a strategic focus on conservative state governments rather than liberal ones.

Company co-founder Arch "Beaver" Aplin III shared his vision during the celebrations marking the opening of a new location in Benton, Arkansas. Standing before an enthusiastic crowd of customers and local officials, Aplin clearly explained what draws his company to certain states over others.

    “We have a lot of opportunities. We’re growing. We’re building in a lot of places, but when you find a conservative, business-friendly state with a phenomenal workforce, it makes a difference.”
    "I'm starting to realize life's too short to try to build in places that people don't appreciate what you're bringing. That idea of a conservative, business-friendly, family-oriented concept works so much better if it trickles down from the very leadership from the top at the governor's office, at the congressman, at senator, at the mayor, the representatives."

Reflecting on his company's groundbreaking work in Arkansas, Aplin commended local officials for their positive attitude toward the project.

“What we found when we got here into Benton was a business-friendly town, they said let’s roll up our sleeves and let’s go get a Buc-ee’s built.”

How popular is the chain? At the Grand Opening in Benton, crowds began forming well before the doors opened. Die-hard fans pitched tents and settled in for an overnight wait just to be the first ones inside.

Currently, the company operates 58 locations nationwide, but that number is expected to grow exponentially in the coming years. Three states that currently have no Buc-ee’s--Louisiana, Kansas, and Wisconsin--are scheduled to open their first locations by 2027.

Looking ahead, the company plans to open additional locations in Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Kentucky, and South Carolina.

What Alpin said in his comments is really telling. Why should a prideful company like Buc-ee’s, which cares about everything from the cleanliness of its restrooms to how its employees treat customers, expose itself to the attitudes and regulations in red states?

His comment on wanting a conservative, caring workforce is a truth that Democrats need to understand. Democrats and their liberal, entitled attitudes are not conducive to a cohesive, pleasant workplace. You can't have employees who feel victimized by everything, including hard work.

We see thousands of companies fleeing cities like Seattle and New York, as well as states like California and Michigan, but when a company as revered as Buc-ee’s makes such specific statements not just about the politics of certain states, but the attitudes those politics breed, the honesty and raw truthfulness is refreshing.
