TORONTO, 23 September 2011 – In the wake of Mahmoud Abbas’s speech to the United Nations, CTV featured commentary from Phyllis Bennis. Presented as an expert from the Institute for Policy Studies, Ms. Bennis went on to present a vitriolic attack on Israel and its interests which was allowed to go unchallenged.

CTV purported to present her as an unbiased expert. In fact, she is completely partisan on the issue, and was the founder in 2001 of the U.S. Campaign to End Israeli Occupation, an organization on whose board she still sits. She is also an active writer who has criticized Israel time and again for exercising its right to ensure its security. B’nai Brith Canada has contacted CTV to ask for equal time to present an alternate viewpoint. Tell CTV that we as Canadians will not stand by unfair, biased reporting. So-called “experts” with their own agendas should not pass as responsible reporting. Let CTV know. Call (416) 384-5000 ask for viewer response, or send emails to the Executive Producer of CTV's Newschannel, John Bussone, by clicking here.
