Cap Black '60': My Sixtieth Birthday Is Here.

Saturday, April 11th, 2026, will be my sixtieth birthday. For better or for worse, it marks my arrival to this world and is a milestone in my journey.

I've made myself reflect upon my life, it's backdrop, where I've been drop kicked (Most notably my June 11th, 2025 blood clot episode) and where I drop kicked back on occasions too numerous to mention. (Lol).

School chums, classmates, etc., have also been reflected upon, from first grade to college. Some died in their youth, from murder and drug addiction. Others 'died' (my words, not theirs) trying to fit into a class structure that didn't want them. Fates of the rest are unknown to me. Then, and now, one point was always clear: I didn't fit in. I was just 'there', operating in my own atypical way. Why God put me in the slow as molasses Southern town of my mother's side of the family remains a mystery. On the positive column of the ledger, I had a loving home, with as many books as my hungry young mind could request and devour. My gratitude must be noted. I only wish I could've given them a normal child in return. Normal wasn't meant for me, especially then when normalcy was tinged with a 'go along to get along ' approach that my fiery spirit rejects to this very day.

Age sixty finds further confirmation of lifelong skepticism I've held toward what was presented to me, my generation and those preceding us.

I remain a skeptic's skeptic, still unwilling to accept hierarchies that put me at the bottom of somebody's pecking order. I reject political, philosophical or social theories that presuppose lack of 'captaincy' (rulership over myself), safety and opportunity are my lot in life. I believe in the power of the author of human potential, inspiring fiction and do-it-yourself 'safety creation' and 'supply sharing' (homeless outreach and mutual aid). I believe we must use abilities God gave us in spite of what so-called 'elites' dictate we should do.

I don't think billionaires and millionaires are going to shift donations away from politicians and playthings to help the working class any time soon. We can shift our efforts instead to help each other far, far more.

Here's to me at age sixty, not a big deal in the surrounding universe but in the 'human-verse', our portion of such vastness,.it's a big enough one. I don't know how I'll feel when. 'Cap Black 60' arrives.
