Catholic Priests, Marriage, Kate Gosselin breaking down crying, Earthquake in China

With all the controversy of the past several generations involving the Holy Roman Catholic church and the sexual predatory habits of a small group of its clergy, doesn’t it seem archaic and even criminal of the Vatican to continue the tradition of not allowing priests to marry?

According to church doctrine a priest must be perceived as being married only to God hence the ban on marriage. But truth be told, the main reason for the ban on marriage unions within the Catholic Church is primarily a financial one. In the early days of the church, priests were allowed to marry but problems arose when at the time of his death his family would put in a claim of inheritance on his estate. To counter that problem the always financially savvy Vatican conveniently nixed any future unions for its shepherds and that is where our problems arise. Men need women! No explanation needed. It’s not just sexual but a necessity for the survival of the soul. Without the love and support of your confidant how can love and loyalty survive in one's heart? It’s a difficult situation that needs to be rectified in the next generation for the very survival of the church. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a basher of the Catholic faith. I’m a former altar boy and still a semi practicing believer of the church and what it stands for but sweeping reforms are the only way to rid the Catholic Church of the stench of perversion that has not only filled out TV screens and the pages of our newspapers  but more importantly  ruined the lives of countless innocent victims. For the sake of our children Pope Benedict, begin the process. Remember the quote from writer Jack Kerouac “If moderation is a fault, than indifference is a crime”. I wake up early every morning to search the world’s newspapers and media sources for news and inspiration to write about in my columns. Today something caught my eye that truly saddened me. While browsing a major news source, I happened to notice while reading the tragedy of almost 2,000 deaths in a major earthquake in China. It seems that there was a little ditty about a quasi celebrity by the name of Kate Gosselin and her breaking down crying on camera that seemed to deserve equal billing on the headline board alongside the indescribable tragedy and despair of thousands. It goes to show you of the lack of priorities and direction of our media. I’m truly not exactly sure who Mrs. Gosselin is and why she’s crying and not to demean her reason for her public breakdown but isn’t there enough hard news and important issues to dominate the world headlines? It’s great to be back here at CFP after my sabbatical and I look forward to my upcoming columns on some of my serious and quirky observations of the world around us. Boss lady Judi is the best and I look forward to having some fun and the opportunity to learn a thing or two.   Email me at anytime at broadcaster@mail.com. Id love to hear from you
