CBS News (Chicago): The ‘We Won’t Report The News if it Hurts Democrats,’ News

CBS News decided that if certain aspects of the race for Illinois Senate between Republican Mark Kirk and Democrat Alexi “The Mob Banker” Giannoulias threaten to make news, why the good folks at CBS Channel 2 News will just refuse to cover it.

I have to say, I find it interesting that CBS News has decided what it will deign to cover and what it won’t. I am wondering if the rest of us hoi polloi were to chose that track at our places of employment. Don’t like mowing a lawn, cleaning a toilet, doing that boring expense report, talking to the boss… well, follow the Channel 2 method and just refuse to do that part of your job! Must be nice to pick and choose the parts of your job that you will deign to do, eh? Oh, CBS tried to cover their rear and claim that what Political Producer Ed Marshall actually said wasn’t what our lying ears heard. But, truth is truth and CBS has announced that it is THEY who will determine what is “news” not actual events. It happened on the morning radio show on WLS where Mr. Marshall told Congressman Kirk that he would simply refuse to report on certain aspects of the race.

“Channel 2’s made a decision. We’re really not going to cover the Senate race if it consistently, only in your terms, is about Broadway Bank. The bank’s been taken over by the government, Alexi’s been pilloried.

I see. So if a legitimate issue — that of the incompetence of Giannoulias and his family at their failed family-owned bank — makes the news, why CBS just won;t cover it. Not too much in the tank for Alexi “The Mob Banker” Giannoulias are they? But, let’s hand it to Channel 2 for admitting what we al already knew was true. The Old Media is in the tank for the Democrats. After all, the failure of the Broadway Bank looks bad for Giannoulias and if it makes him look bad, CBS won’t report it.
