"No veteran should have to fill out a 23-page claim to get care, or wait months -- even years -- to get an appointment at the VA," said then-candidate Obama. "When we fail to keep faith with our veterans, the bond between our nation and our nation's heroes becomes frayed. When a veteran is denied care, we are all dishonored."We also know that, once he'd won, his transition team was informed that the new administration couldn't trust the VA's overly optimistic data. How can the administration claim it was in the dark on this matter, and thus did nothing, when it was so provably aware of the problem 7 years ago? We're sure they'll try to go with the old standards, but "It's Bush's fault" and "Racism" aren't going to work this time.
