CNN on 'lost' Lois Lerner IRS emails: 'Do you believe in the Easter Bunny?'

Uh-oh, once again CNN is having trouble swallowing the official administration story regarding the investigation into one of its many, many, many ongoing scandals. This time, it's the Lois Lerner IRS emails, and their supposed "loss" due to a corrupt hard drive.

It seems that the IRS has managed to recover almost 30,000 of Lerner's messages from 2009 to 2011, but - in a shockingly convenient turn of events - those are primarily internal communications. Investigators are looking for the emails she sent to the DOJ, the White House, and the Federal Election Commission. Unfortunately, according to the Associated Press, Rep. Dave Camp (R-MI) has some bad news on that front.
"An untold number are gone. Camp's office said the missing emails are mainly ones to and from people outside the IRS, "such as the White House, Treasury, Department of Justice, FEC, or Democrat offices."
Isn't that something! The missing mail just happens to be precisely the stuff everyone really needs to see. What are the odds!? CNN's John King finds the claim laughable, suggesting that - if you're willing to swallow the story - you're probably also a big fan of the Easter Bunny. Darrell Issa isn't buying it either.
"Do they really expect the American people to believe that, after having withheld these emails for a year, they're just now realizing the most critical time period is missing?" said Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., chairman of the House Oversight Committee. "If there wasn't nefarious conduct that went much higher than Lois Lerner in the IRS targeting scandal, why are they playing these games?"
Here's the thing: I don't honestly believe they give a rat's rear if anyone buys it or not. Since very few members of the Congressional GOP are truly willing to stand up to the administration and prosecute this kind of behavior, the White House doesn't really care what you believe. There's no reason to worry as long as the Republicans are all talk. If there are no consequences coming, all the chatter can just serve as distraction while they implement their next illegal, unconstitutional, scheme.
