COMMUNITY ALERT: End the Funding of Palestinian Terror Organization by International Aid Groups

Toronto, - B’nai Brith Canada is urging Canadians to vocalize their concern over the reports that international aid groups are actively providing funds to a Palestinian terror group in Gaza. Evidence provided by Israeli civil rights group, Shurat HaDin—Israel Law Center, reveals that World Vision Australia and AusAID are funding the Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC), which the Center maintains is an arm of terrorist organization, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).

The PFLP has been designated by Canada, Australia, the U.S. and the European Union as a terrorist organization. World Vision has a branch in Canada and Canadian donors have a right to demand safeguards that funds raised in this country are not being sent to illegal organizations that support, promote and/or carry our terrorist acts. B’nai Brith Canada has created a petition requesting that World Vision Canada issue an immediate statement unequivocally condemning the reported practices of its Australian counterpart, and confirming that the Canadian branch has safeguards in place to prevent Canadian funds being used in this manner. B’NAI BRITH ACTION ALERT – SIGN B’NAI BRITH CANADA’S PETITION – Please visit this website: Please contact your MP, MPP, city councillor, religious and community leaders, as well your friends, family and colleagues to urge them to sign this petition.

SAMPLE POINTS:

  • World Vision Australia is currently funding the Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC), which has been linked by Shurat HaDin—Israel Law Center to the terrorist group, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), in violation of Australian law.
  • In 2003, the Government of Canada designated the PFLP as a terrorist organization, a group that has perpetrated suicide bombings, car bombings and hijackings murdering innocent civilians across the globe and destroying countless lives. Any funding by World Vision Canada to PFLP affiliates would also be illegal. Canadians need to know their donations are not being used to fund terror entities.
  • Overcoming injustice is one of World Vision’s stated missions. We believe that the organization should discontinue any funding of terrorist entities, thereby sending a clear message to the international community that it will not partner with those that seek to perpetrate terrorist acts.
