A dishonest political narrative is a terrible thing to waste

Cue liberal head explosion: Kochs give $25 million to United Negro College Fund

One thing you should know about politics in the present era is that there is no such thing as redemption for anyone in the eyes of the left, but especially those whose villianization they have become heavily invested in. The Koch brothers are the source of all evil in the modern world, because they use the money they earned in support of candidates and causes disliked by the left. So at this point, no matter what they do, it must be seen as done in the service of evil.
Hard to attack someone for giving to the United Negro College Fund? Ha! Even the UNCF expects that the left will find a way:
African-Americans are a key constituency within the Democratic Party. But Michael Lomax, president and CEO of UNCF, said that since the organization’s inception in 1944, it has reached out to people of all backgrounds for support without an “ideological lens” because it is in everyone’s interest. The organization has awarded $100 million in scholarships to more than 12,000 students at 900 schools this year alone, but he said the need is so great that the organization turns away nine out of every 10 applicants, or about 100,000 students annually. He said that in today’s politically charged climate, he’s prepared to take criticism from those of different political leanings than the Kochs. “Criticism is a small price for helping young people get the chance to realize their dream of a college education, and if I’ve got to bear the brunt of someone else’s criticism to ensure that we have the resources to help those students, then I can handle it, and I can take the heat,” Lomax said. Lomax said he and Charles Koch, chairman and CEO of Koch Industries, based in Wichita, Kansas, had lunch together and were able to find that we “shared a profound belief in the importance of education.”

The obvious line for the left to take here is that the Kochs only did this to blunt all the criticism against them. But this is nothing new. The Kochs have been supporting UNCF since at least 2005 - which was well before their ascension as Perpetrators Of All Global Evil in the minds of the left. Right alongside that is the claim that, because they are worth billions, $25 million is mere pocket change for them. I can guarantee you the UNCF doesn't see the $25 million as pocket change, but the actual purpose of the donation is irrelevant in the political realm. If found this line in the PBS report particularly instructive of the times in which we live:
The Kochs have relied on a complex tax and campaign finance system to keep most of their donations shrouded in mystery, and several of the groups they fund do not have to disclose the names of their donors in real time. In many cases, years pass before the Kochs’ level of giving is disclosed.
It wasn't that long ago that we admired people who free gave their money and wanted to do so anonymously because it wasn't about getting credit or attention for it. That, of course, was before the left decided that money in politics represented their back-door opportunity to put restrictions on political speech, not to mention turning a couple of private citizens into the poster boys for evil. Now we say their donations are "shrouded in mystery" and moan that organizations "do not have to disclose the names of their donors," as if people who freely give their own money are doing something wrong and need to be put under the hot lights for it. At any rate, the UNCF does disclose its donors, and now we have a more complete picture of what the Koch brothers believe is worth their financial support. Once the heads of liberals finish exploding, I have no doubt they will either find a way to attack the Kochs for this, or turn on the United Negro College Fund for going off the reservation. We are all too familiar around here with what the left tries to do to black people who stray from the reservation.
