Damn politicians! Just because they are for the birds, doesn't mean the birds are for them to use in their partisan squabbling. The Tories, Grits and Pinkies have no right to label the non-partisan red-tailed hawk, blue jay and loon as political symbols.
If we must have a national bird, I suggest the osprey. This majestic hunter would also be a fitting symbol for the Air Force.
