Dead cow at farm in the West Country had been infected with ANTHRAX

A case of the deadly contagious disease anthrax was confirmed in a cow that died on a Wiltshire farm.

Public Health officials say the risk to the public is low and the carcass has been incinerated, but if the disease were to get into the food chain, it could prove fatal. The cow died at the end of last week and it's the first case of the bacterial disease in England since 2006, but another was recorded on a farm in Wales last month.
