Death toll hits 50 in radical Islamist massacre of gay nightclub patrons in Orlando

In an act of evil clearly motivated by the radical Islamist hatred of homosexuals, a radical Islamist terrorist has murdered 50 people who were present at a gay bar in Orlando last night. Police recently confirmed the much higher death toll than the 20 originally reported:

The shooter was identified as Omar S. Mateen, a Florida resident who a senior FBI official said might have had leanings toward Islamic State militants. Officials called the rampage a "terrorism incident," but cautioned that the suspected Islamist connection required further investigation. Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer said the attack was the deadliest single U.S. shooting incident, eclipsing the 32 people killed in the 2007 massacre at Virginia Tech university "Today we're dealing with something that we never imagined and is unimaginable," Dyer said, more than doubling an earlier estimate that about 20 bodies were found in the Pulse nightclub. A police officer working as a security guard inside the club, which has operated in downtown Orlando since 2004, exchanged fire with the suspect at about 2 a.m. EDT, police officials said.

I suppose it's possible that the gay nightclub was a randomly chosen target and that it had nothing to do with the radical Islamist belief that homosexuals deserve death, but I highly doubt it and I'm pretty sure you do too. What a horrible piece of news. We pray for all the victims and their families, and as a Christian I both hope and expect that my brothers and sisters in Christ will come to their aid by showing love and support in any way we can. Just like the victims at Fort Hood and in San Bernardino, these were Americans murdered by an enemy whose only allegiance is to a religion/ideology of violence and death. They hate the United States because we refuse to countenance this evil rage, and no attempt to appease them by left-wing fools will change that fact. I wonder if this is the one type of attack that might actually light a fire under Democrats to want to really destroy ISIS. But I doubt it. Most American leftists only care about homosexuals so long as they're useful to the left's larger agenda. Taking the fight to ISIS is most definitely not part of that agenda, so expect lots of hand-wringing and gun-blaming - and not much else.
