Dem. Senator from Hawaii on Dem gropers: 'sometimes good people do bad things'

Chuck Todd is on a mini-roll. As I wrote the other day, he's been grilling prominent lefties about their double standard with regard to the increasing number of sexual harassment allegations being lobbed at their Democrat colleagues. I don't expect it to last, but I do appreciate it. The most recent example features Senator Mazie Hirono (D., Hawaii). Todd wanted to know why folks like Nancy Pelosi are still - despite all the evidence - working so hard to ignore their own platitudes and give their pals a pass when it comes to the treatment of women. To Todd's credit, he didn't let up.

Todd pointed out that it looks terrible, that politicians don't appear to be cleaning up their act, and wondered if Senator Hirono was comfortable serving with people like Conyers and Franken. Her answer was ...substandard.

"I have served with them before we knew that they engaged in this kind of behavior - which, by the way, anybody who engages in this kind of behavior should be held accountable - but notice that good people do bad things. Gee, I wish that life were so black and white that you can't think of a single person - you know, a good person - who has done bad things."

Ummmmm.... No. Sorry. Not buying it. A: If a man said that, he'd be swarmed by an angry horde of progressive women accusing him of "mansplaining." She's making the exact argument that liberals have been making - since the Clinton administration - to excuse this behavior. B: This courtesy is NEVER extended to Republicans - and it shouldn't be. C: Of course good people do bad things. We're not idiots. We all know that. Unfortunately, that's not the issue here. The issue here is: People, employed by taxpayers, have been doing bad things on such a massively systemic basis that they've actually set up a taxpayer funded method to hide it WHILE lecturing the rest of us about these very issues AND lording their power over us. This is about their crimes, yes, but it's also about their power, their confiscated lucre, and their seemingly unending capacity for hypocrisy. The nation is, to put it bluntly, sick of subsidizing their crap. That's what this is about.
