Democrat Party at it again with Gaslighting on Immigration

At a campaign event in South Carolina, President Joe Biden provided the latest round of Democrat gaslighting: “A bipartisan bill would be good for America and help fix our broken immigration system and allow speedy access for those who deserve to be here, and Congress needs to get it done, It’ll also give me as president, the emergency authority to shut down the border until it could get back under control. If that bill were the law today, I’d shut down the border right now and fix it quickly.”

This came after a recent Harvard CAPS Harris poll showed that illegal immigration to be, by far, the greatest concern to American voters of both parties, ahead of inflation and Biden’s foreign policy debacles. It also comes as polls show President Biden has earned historically low ratings for his handling of illegal immigration. The Democrats’ ubiquitous new talking point is that Republicans are to blame for immigration. It’s time to again shed the light of truth on the gaslighting Democrats love.

This isn’t the first time Biden and the Democrats have attempted this game. In 2020, after the start of the George Floyd riots, the political left was clear that America needed to abolish or defund the police. This had been a fringe position for many years restricted to primarily academia and Democrat circles. The “progressive” argument was that police were developed to catch and return slaves, and that police forces defended a systematically racist system causing more crime. In the summer of 2020, Democrats told Americans to “reimagine” policing (basically no police), and “defund” the police. Democrat Party leaders demanded cutting police funding to the bone to put money into their pet progressive projects. In early June 2020, even Vice President Kamala Harris praised defunding police. According the New York Post: “Vice presidential hopeful Sen. Kamala Harris on Tuesday applauded Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s decision to slash police funding by $150 million.” This was around the same time-period that Harris was helping generate funds for bonds to spring BLM/Antifa rioters from jail. Biden went along with this insanity and, of course, picked Harris as his VP.

Fast forward to March 2023 after the inevitable skyrocketing and polls showing Americans overwhelmingly disapproved of defunding police: Biden unashamedly claimed that “Republicans are calling for defunding the police department.” This came after some Republicans had specific issues with a proposal to pump $1.9 Billion into Capitol Hill Security. According to Fox News: “in a twist, Democrats are attempting to turn the tables and accuse Republicans of being anti-police.”

What’s happening now with immigration is a repeat of Defund the Police Democrat gaslighting. The day Biden took office on January 20, 2021, he immediately signed several executive orders (EO) and Executive Policy Changes (EPC) creating a virtual open border by weakening protections against illegal immigration. He followed up with more on Jan 25, then more on February 2, then more on February 4, then April 16, then April 30, then May 3. He halted border wall construction and many detentions.

According to Heritage senior research fellow Simon Hankinson “previous Presidents have abused parole (for illegal immigrants), but Biden is doing it on an industrial scale.” The numbers show the catastrophic consequences of Biden’s arguably unconstitutional unilateral actions which violated Congressional direction for immigration enforcement. The year after Trump took office total enforcement actions by Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) were at 526,901. The last year of Trump’s term they were at 646,822. In the first year of Biden’s term, they were up to 1,956,519 and the next year were at 2,766,582. We are now well beyond six-million [Please see – CBP Enforcement Statistics]

According to former CBP commissioner Mark Morgan, under Biden “the situation on the southern border is truly unprecedented. We have seen record-breaking month after record-breaking month.”

As with Defund the Police, Biden is “attempting to turn the tables” on Republicans due to Republican issues with the current immigration bill. Senator Ted Cruz claims the current bill is “utterly ineffective in fixing the problem” partly because it did little to cut the number of asylum seekers clogging the system and allows the President too much leeway. Cruz called the bill “a fig leaf that pretends to do border security but doesn’t actually do border security.” Other Republicans disagree with Cruz, but the point is that Republicans have learned not to trust Biden to carry out Congressional directives after the past three years and want no loopholes. To claim Republicans are responsible for the current border crisis is a slap at the intelligence of every American, just as it was a slap claiming Republicans were responsible for defunding police.

The attempted gaslighting by Democrats and media allies is getting very, very old and is as un-American as it comes. It’s just pure lies Crime and illegal immigration are out of control due to the insane Democrat policy experiments fostered on the nation. This next election will be the time for proper accountability and getting us back to being one nation under God. A nation seeking truth and not gaslighting deception.
