This Jimmy Williams character boils it down pretty simply for liberals who want to blame racism for all their problems. If not for the fact that Obama is black and white voters are racists, Landrieu, Nunn and Grimes are all celebrating victories today.
It must be nice to be able to delude yourself into comfort so easily:
I know it's easy to laugh at this, but try for a second to think like a liberal who's looking for any excuse to deny the truth of what happened last night. All those Republican votes? They're just racist votes! That's all! And all the white racists are going to die! And then? And then? Everything will be fine! Only racists oppose liberal policies!
It's much easier for a true believer to cling to stuff like that than it is to examine what's gone wrong in your governance of the nation.
Even so, when you really think about it, you'd think even a liberal would recognize that this guy's theory makes no sense. If people are willing to vote for Democrats, but have a problem with black people, why are they rejecting white Democrats like Grimes, Nunn and (maybe) Landrieu? Williams seems to think that if we had a white Democrat in the White House, all of these Democrat Senate candidates would have won last night? How's that? Defeating them didn't get Obama out of the White House. He's still there. Does Williams think a bunch of redneck bumpkin racists sent evil Republicans to the Senate to torment the black president, where they otherwise would have gladly voted for the party of wealth redistribution and foreign policy weakness?
That makes no sense, but then nothing does when it comes from people who are clinging to anything that allows them not to face reality.
