While Democrats despise Wall Streeters they laud the wealth and celebrity of rock and movie stars. If Tom Cruise gets 20 million a film or Paul McCartney is a billionaire so much the better. Democrats are superficial and like glitter. They like bling. They call Obama a rock star. They love panache and flame. They wear invisible gold stars on their cheeks.
Democrats hate Wall Street even though many of them work there. They enjoy split personalities—one self-chomping at the bit for wealth and the other cropping at themselves for their own greed. They don’t know which self they are because they are both peasants and kings.
God forbid a stock broker gets a million dollar bonus or a doctor earns a half a million dollars a year and the Democrats will accuse them of Gordon Gecko type greed. Of course, they don’t mind greed in Gordon Gecko or Michael Douglas—they are stars.
There is a certain gayness to the flash and worship by Democrats. They interior decorate their political choices with celebrity type politicians.
It’s not the money, stupid. It’s the image. If you’re dull and studious like the Republicans the snobby Democrats criticize you. But if you’re Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga or Madonna, the Democrats will be right behind you patting you on the thong.
The Democrats love stars because they themselves are empty; they fill themselves up with the glitter of others.
Adolescence is a Democrat in the voting booth picking his star. Maturity is a Republican choosing the man who will do the best job for the country, even if that’s (not this time) a Democrat.
