To this end, we suggest the following be pursued in the bankruptcy process for Detroit and all other present or future municipal bankruptcy cases. First, you must determine the names of all mayors, council members, political appointees and paid commission participants for the past 50 years. Then you must determine the current pension payment being received by, or to be received by, those political positions or appointments. Next you must void all past and present employment/retirement contracts of such political positions or appointments. Proceed with normal bankruptcy process and when the finalized numbers are known, adjust the retirement benefits amount for all of the political positions or appointments to be exactly the same percentage of dollars to be received by bond holders and government employee union members.
