The real national emergency is capable of consuming the national boundaries, the national civility, and eventually, the very soul of America. There truly is a National Emergency in 2019!

Do American Citizens’ Rights and Their Lives Matter or do Criminals’ Rights and Lives Matter More?

A house divided against itself cannot standAs the nation celebrated Presidents' Day on Monday, the people are in the midst of sorting out the “National Emergency” that President Donald Trump declared this past Friday. But, despite the various “insights” and numerous concerns over the wisdom of the president’s actions, the real question remains as to whether the United States is facing a national emergency at the southern border or whether it is not. Despite whether the Border Wall has become the straw that may break the federal government’s back, there is a much bigger emergency in the United States than many may realize. Since the 2016 election of Donald Trump as the President of the United States, an orchestrated effort has swept through the entire breadth and width of the “opposition” party to undermine the president by any means possible. The truth of the coup against a popularly elected president is only now coming to light. Unfortunately, the only coup that the elitist mainstream media moguls may report on has been the one in Venezuela. But, America is not only under attack on the southern border with Mexico; the nation is under attack from within the hallowed halls of the federal government and other dark quarters.

Abraham Lincoln: A House Divided

In the wake of Presidents' Day, and within the parameters of President Trump’s declaration of a "National Emergency," it is a good opportunity to take inventory of America as President Trump did to some degree in his State of the Union speech not long ago. But, it is important to step back a bit from the constant barrage of the political pundits who pontificate daily. It is wise to take a brief look at history and a time in which America was in a true state of national emergency - a time during the American Civil War. A simple consideration of Abraham Lincoln’s words rings out loudly from the past” “A house divided against itself cannot stand!” Now, Lincoln was quoting Jesus Christ when he made this speech, and he was in deepest earnest. On June 16, 1858, Lincoln delivered a very well-remembered speech to accept the nomination of the newly formed Republican Party to run for the Senate seat for Illinois against the powerful Democrat incumbent Stephen Douglas. The speech was offered in Springfield, and in it Lincoln expressed a profound understanding of the dangers facing the United States just prior to the impending Civil War:
A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this Government cannot endure, permanently, half slave and half free. I do not expect the Union to be dissolved — I do not expect the house to fall — but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing or all the other. Either the opponents of slavery will arrest the further spread of it, a and place it where the public mind shall rest in the belief that it is in the course of ultimate extinction; or its advocates will push it forward, till it shall become lawful in all the States, old as well as new — North as well as South.

Presidents' Day, Proclamations, and the National Emergency

Lincoln actually made 18 clear points in the speech, but he had the audacity to tell the truth about how the Republic had been divided from the beginning over the issue of slavery. Lincoln was not afraid to speak the truth, while other politicians would be vague, or lie to the people, as they still possess such habits. Unfortunately, even before he delivered the speech, many of his friends whose opinions he sought condemned his words, and none whom he consulted approved of it. One told him it was “Damned fool utterance.” Yet, Lincoln had the courage to deliver it because he believed in the truth. Lincoln not only delivered it; he also strongly defended his words: “My friends, this thing has been retarded long enough. The time has come when these statements should be uttered, and if it is decreed that I should go down because of this speech, then let me go downlinked to the truth; let me die in advocacy of what is just and right." After Lincoln delivered his “House Divided” speech, the Republican establishment of his day, or some of the more “adept” of the leaders, criticized Lincoln for what he had said – it is possible that he had been too honest – or not “politically correct” enough for his day. They were afraid that Stephen F. Douglas would use his words against him. Many were dismayed that he had been so honest and brash – some said “impolite.” Much stronger conservative members of the Party did not appreciate it, and many thought it would sink Lincoln into political oblivion. Despite the prediction that Douglas would use his words against Lincoln, and he did, and that he would lose the Senate race, which Lincoln did lose, it was Abraham Lincoln who went down in American history as one of the greatest presidents. Lincoln could see the destructive divisiveness that was rotting away the foundational and constitutional principles upon which the nation was built. A superficial consideration of the incredibly divisive time in Lincoln’s America may suffice for many people, but such a simplistic perception does not allow for the fact that Lincoln was concerned about saving America in light of the perilous period in which he served as president.

There should be no illusion that the “Democratic” Party has fomented the national emergency in America. The house is divided, and it will no longer stand unless true Americans awaken from their stupor

President Donald Trump has taken an incredibly strong stand in his recent declaration of a “National Emergency,” but many people do not see it the same way, or do not want to see it the same way. It is an incredibly transforming moment in America’s history, and similar to Lincoln’s brash statement regarding how slavery had always been a point of serious division within America. Whether Trump’s declaration becomes as historically poignant and prophetic as Lincoln’s “House Divided” speech, it has certainly stirred up a great deal of commentary from all quarters - good, bad, and ugly. The question remains - is there a national emergency that the United States is facing in 2019? This question, however, must not be isolated from the other contemporary crises facing America today. The question needs to be moved beyond the micro-focus on the existing crisis at the southern border. It should be noted that it is not simply controversy over the southern border which has exposed the crucial nerve of deep political divisions, it is the domestic enemy within the U.S. that intelligent American citizens have recently been shocked over, and have a serious reaction against the political cancer within the nation. Yes, there is a national emergency the United States is facing in 2019 - the wall is just one of the symptoms, which highlights the decision over whether American citizens’ rights matter, or their lives matter, or criminals’ rights, or lives, matter more. The practice of abortion is one other of the symptoms, which highlights the “right” American citizens have to create a life they knowingly and purposely will kill after the passage of a period of the growth of life within the mother’s womb. Another of the symptoms is the practice of tempting people with “happiness” with the intent of manipulating them for the sake of personal and political power. There should be no illusion that the “Democratic” Party has fomented the national emergency in America. The house is divided, and it will no longer stand unless true Americans awaken from their stupor. The real national emergency is capable of consuming the national boundaries, the national civility, and eventually, the very soul of America. There truly is a National Emergency in 2019!
