DOJ never interviewed conservative targets before closing IRS investigation

Per the Wall Street Journal, that "thorough" investigation that led the Department of Justice not to pursue criminal charges in the IRS scandal was, er, not so thorough. You'd think an investigation of this nature would involve interviewing the groups who believe they were targeted. You'd think that, but you'd be wrong:

Yesterday we told you about Cleta Mitchell, the attorney representing various conservative organizations targeted by the IRS. None of Ms. Mitchell's clients has been interviewed in the case, and yet prosecutors have apparently already decided not to bring any criminal charges. Now comes word from the American Center for Law and Justice, which also represents targeting victims, that the FBI didn't ask to interview these victims until the end of December, seven months after the scandal broke. And even as the Department of Justice looks to wrap up its inquiry, the FBI still hasn't interviewed a single one of the center's 41 clients.
Now why would you decline to interview the purported victims of an alleged crime if you're looking to get at the truth? Because clearly, Eric Holder's Justice Department is not looking to get at the truth. It's simply looking to whitewash the whole thing. I wonder: If the media were not so singularly obsessed with Bridgegate and its potential impact on Chris Christie and the 2016 presidential race, would Holder be as bold about the sham that this investigation clearly is? The Obama White House always counts on the media to ignore its most shameless acts of governmental malfeasance. The lamestreamers have already announced that, in their opinion, the IRS scandal has "fizzled," which is more or less license to Holder to sweep the whole thing under the rug and not conduct a serious investigation - since he knows they don't care about the story and won't hold his feet to the fire for it. Thank God for the Wall Street Journal and the few established outlets out there that aren't content to let the White House bury this.
