The Southern Poverty Law Center is staking its reputation on mislabeling Dr. Ben Carson as an "extremist."

Dr. Ben Carson Is Nobody's Extremist!

Calling Dr. Ben Carson an extremist is proof the poverty in the title, Southern Poverty Law Center, is a gross lack of common sense. It also indicates the Left considers the good doctor, follower of the Good Shepherd of biblical fame, a serious threat.

Some wonder what threat can this soft spoken retiree be to a philosophy which owns popular culture, the media, academia, snivel-formerly-civil-rights groups, one or two major political parties and last but not least, the White House? The good doctor was an icon of the Left and its client state-the Black mainstream-until throwing down his once gloved conservative gauntlet at a now-famous National Prayer Breakfast. President Obama watched stone faced- and angry. This action knocked progressives off balance as phony warm regard vied with very real rage at Dr. Carson for being uppity. They have been trying to demonize him ever since, either via Toure's dig as a "Black friend" of alleged racists or increasingly inventive spin on Carson's commentary about Obamacare, gay marriage and parallels drawn between an autocratic America and past global regimes. Conservative supporters wonder if this delusional "extremist" allegation is meant to end his all-but-declared run for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination? Further speculation adds progressives fear the good doctor can tap traditionalism Black voters suspend to remain in the Democratic coalition. He was a Black History Month staple whose story was presented in a made-for-TV movie, starring Cuba Gooding, Jr., and even made the pages of Ebony magazine. Scaring away White independents would also be a major goal. Re-branding him as-ridiculously-in the same league as White supremacists is intended to be electoral kryptonite to Black and independent voters...or so they hope. The Southern Poverty Law Center is staking its reputation on mislabeling Dr. Ben Carson as an "extremist." Clearly, he is nobody's "extremist."
