As you're no doubt aware, the miniscule cuts made by the sequester have absolutely decimated the U.S. government. Barack Obama wants to make sure furloughed federal workers know that he "feels their pain" and stands with them during these trying times. So he's decided to give back a staggering 5% of his own salary.
This heroic gesture, made by a prince among men, has been met with nothing but derision from filthy members of the evil, right-wing, media. They point out that he's still wine-and-dining celebrities at lavish White House events, he still hasn't reinstated the White House tours, and he's still taking expensive multi-million dollar vacations on the taxpayer’s dime.
To put that in perspective, tax records show the President and First Lady made $790,000 in 2011 alone. Obama's overall net worth reportedly stands at a whopping $12 million.
But don't worry about any that stuff. Focus on the fact that his largesse has compelled him to give back a staggering $20,000 of his $400,000 paycheck.
The left has spent a lot of time calling conservatives "petty" for pointing out how worthless this is, but now an unlikely ally has emerged. None other than the leftist, statist, gun-control guru, Piers Morgan, thinks this display of humility and grace is a big fat waste of time.
"If he actually gave up the holidays," Morgan points out, "If he gave up the vacations which are costing the taxpayer hundreds of thousands or dollars, it might have mor impact than 5% of 400,000."
