Existential Enmity: You Can't Make Enemies Treat You Nicely

I just posted this on x regarding conservative calls for lifelong social media bans upon critics of slain TPUSA CEO Charlie Kirk:

Take from a Brother who knows what being hated feels like, like it's the back of his hand.

You can be despised just 'because.' Your appearance or ideology can trigger hysterical or even homicidal hostility regardless of your commitment to civility.

Your downfall can be celebrated and your tormentors venerated. That's the way existential conflict works. Either man up in the face of degradation or retreat from the political battlefield.

There's no law that can make your enemy be nice to you. That's not how the concept of enemies works.

I understand homicidal hatred can be a bit 'much' for well adjusted people to take. It's not nice. It's not civil. It's also not going to vanish through speech codes and forced niceties.

Progressives tried that.

It didn't do so for the left that imposed them so much so it pushed people into an unlikely, winning coalition that unseated them in the White House and Congress. It won't do so for a newly, deeply traumatized right.

You can't make people be nice to you. Existential enmity transcends niceties.

Just some thoughts from someone who has had to create safety against existential enmity for a lifetime.
