FBI's been hounding dissenters for decades
FBI "business calls," raids and curbside harassment of citizens who speak their mind is nothing new. The difference between historic intimidation tactics used by the FBI and the current spate of siege and seizure is that the agency's approach has moved out of the shadows into broad daylight with a few minor additions, like body armor. The FBI hasn't really changed over the last century. Sixty years ago it was families like mine that endured furtive visitations of agents, not directly to those targeted but to their friends, family and work associates. A little background for the benefit of family and others who may not have known about agents making house calls to neighbors and employers – until individuals found themselves out of a job, blackballed at the behest of "officials..."

The FBI is now promoting the agenda that it was supposedly suppressing 55 years ago and is openly persecuting conservatives who speak for the Constitution

Coming out of World War II, communist infiltration of teachers' associations and labor unions had already taken hold. My father, who had returned from duty as a Merchant Marine serving all around the globe supplying our military on virtually every front (including nary a mile off the shore of Normandy on D-Day), came home with a hope for peace. He was immediately accosted by close family friends – teachers in Baltimore – about the utopian dream being touted by the communist party. Having revered this couple as a teenager, he capitulated to their influence and attended meetings for a brief period of time. It wasn't but a couple months before he realized the utopia the communists were selling was nothing more than a pipedream and he left the party, never to return. But the dye had been cast and his name went onto an FBI roster that followed him for 20 years with agents hounding him at every job he held. In 1965, when his wife, my mother, had been confined to a wheelchair as a paraplegic and medical bills were forcing him into bankruptcy, agents called at a neighbor's house to further defame him. Finally, this neighbor, who put his own career with a military contractor on the line, told the federal agents to get lost and that he would hear no more of the slander against my father. This man was a republican who stood up for a democrat friend against FBI bullying. Throughout my father's life of being involved in politics and, later, as a successful entrepreneur, he'd been approached many times about running for office. He consistently declined due to a history of the FBI stalking him for what he called a youthful mistake, but it barred any political aspirations for life. Today the politics have flipped. The FBI is now promoting the agenda that it was supposedly suppressing 55 years ago and is openly persecuting conservatives who speak for the Constitution. Our conservative neighbor who defended a democrat against the J. Edgar Hoover FBI would now be the individual targeted and molested by that same agency.

The targeting of political opposition by agencies such as the FBI, DOJ and IRS has gone public with major media providing cover for unconstitutional incursions

September 13, 2022, an American businessman was surrounded at a fast-food restaurant by FBI agents seeking to intimidate him into silence for having publicly voiced opinions and published research disparaged by the Biden administration. The incident followed raids on more than 35 outspoken supporters of President Trump and his economic policies. One of these visitations was to Lisa Gallagher which the agents attributed to an anonymous tip that she'd been at the Capitol on January 6, 2021 despite the agency's ability to prove that she was not in Washington, D.C. The FBI had already tracked hundreds of protesters through their cellphones and facial recognition programs and she was not among them. The targeting of political opposition by agencies such as the FBI, DOJ and IRS has gone public with major media providing cover for unconstitutional incursions into households and streetside threats to individuals. Raiding Mar-a-Lago despite its owner fully cooperating with authorities, invading homes of the former president's friends and associates, and intimidating private citizens for their differing opinions is exactly why the Declaration of Independence was penned in 1776 – to guard the lives of every individual from oppressive government. Take time to read the whole document, not just the first paragraphs that used to be memorized by grammar school students 50 years ago. Any person who believes the constitutional rights of another can or should be subverted because of their political views is allowing this nation to disintegrate into an authoritarian regime. Once the administrative autocracy is entrenched, no vote will have effect whether on the right or left. The nation is already suffering under a DOJ that has characterized as "domestic terrorists" moms who voice disagreement with the local school boards. Yet individuals burning businesses, federal buildings and police precincts in cities like Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis, etc. are given a pass because of their protected political viewpoints.

No one is immune to the despotism of an administrative state

We have already descended into the mire of one faction suppressing the voice of another via technology. Those that say nothing and/or make excuses for popular feeling that humans have the ability to, and must, change everything from climate to biological sex, are essentially condoning the harassment and jailing of cultural and political challengers. That formula produced the Third Reich and it was innocent Jews, Christians, homosexuals, gypsies and handicapped who bore the brunt of the tyranny. They were the ones whose businesses were destroyed, rounded up, medically tortured, enslaved and gassed by a regime that average citizens, who supposed the government would never come for them, could have stopped. The same was true for the USSR and the People's Republic of China. Citizens who took the path of least resistance and went along with the flow of armed coercion became the harassed, hunted, disenfranchised, jailed and eventually liquidated in the name of preserving the State. It is occurring today in China with the Uyghurs, Falun Gong and non-party members. Self-righteousness, practiced by ideologues of any stripe, is paving this road to hell that current policy is instituting. Once begun, no one is immune to the despotism of an administrative state.
