Don't worry. He 'identifies as female.' Surely this will be fine

Federal court ruling: Get ready for a 'transgender' roommate, college co-eds!

Think it's silly how much time we're spending talking about bathrooms? Fine. Let's talk about something else. Let's talk about actual living quarters, because that's where we're heading next. Let's talk about college dorm rooms. Parents, you're dropping off your 18-year-old daughter for her first year of college. You take her up to her dorm room and you meet her roommate. Something sure doesn't seem quite right here. The roommate introduces, er, itself as Brittany, but explains that its birth name is Brian. It's fine, you see. It's trans! And it identifies as female.
You have a very big problem with this, so you complain to the university, which takes the matter very seriously and immediately initiates disciplinary action. Against you. You are being discriminatory, you rube. Don't think this is coming? Even after everything else we've seen? Then you're in denial, and the federal courts are already inching toward making this a legal standard. A recent ruling by a federal appelate court held that any university that receives federal funding (that's just about all of them, friends) must adhere to the Obama Administration's reading of Title IX, which is that "transgenders" must be treated as the gender they claim to be in all areas of university life. Including housing:
Pushing the transgender agenda through the entire alphabet of the federal bureaucracy has been a high priority for the administration in President Obama’s second term. So it was that in January 2015 an obscure functionary named James A. Ferg-Cadima, in his temporary capacity as acting deputy assistant secretary at the Department of Education, signed his name to a letter and sent that letter to G.G. (and to various transgender activists). In his letter, Ferg-Cadima made two cursory legal claims on behalf of the department. First, he declared that Title IX’s ban on discrimination on the basis of sex includes a ban on discrimination on the basis of gender identity. Second, he asserted that schools that provide “sex-segregated restrooms, locker rooms, shower facilities, housing, athletic teams, and single-sex classes” must “treat transgender students consistent with their gender identity.”

Ponder for a moment some examples of what Ferg-Cadima’s second claim means for schools that receive federal funding. A young man who says his gender identity is female must be offered a college dormitory room with roommates who are women (irrespective of the wishes of those roommates). An athlete who is biologically male in all respects must be allowed to compete for a position on a women’s sports team if he identifies himself as female. A first-grade girl who thinks she’s a boy can use the boys’ bathroom. And, yes, high-school boys who say they’re transgender girls may use the girls’ locker rooms and showers on the same terms, and at the same time, as the girls do — and vice versa, of course, for girls who say they’re transgender boys. Not surprisingly, this insanity has no plausible basis in Title IX. Let’s assume, for the sake of argument, that Ferg-Cadima is right in his first claim: that Title IX actually forbids discrimination on the basis of gender identity. On any coherent account of what discrimination is, that assumption thoroughly defeats, rather than supports, Ferg-Cadima’s claim that “transgender students” must be treated “consistent with their gender identity.” Don't think for a minute that the wishes of students and their families who object to such an arrangement will be respected or honored. In fact, the whole point of this is to provoke confrontations with such people for the purpose of branding them as haters, and having the law make it official. Can't imagine it? Did you ever think two years ago that people would be fined six figures for declining to bake a cake? There is no limit to this frontier for the people who want to completely erase all understanding of sex and gender, and there is no one they won't be happy to trample on in their pursuit of this agenda. They've already got corporate America completely cowed. And now the courts are doing their bidding too. Oh, by the way, there is nothing Hillary would like better than to lock in a majority on the Supreme Court that will affirm such rulings. In addition to everything else that's going haywire here, do you really want to give her that chance?
