There is no path “around” Covid-19. We can only hope to go “through” it to the other side.

Finally Fauci, WHO concede role for herd immunity in fighting Covid-19

After months skirting the issue, both Dr. Anthony Fauci and the World Health Organization have for the first time acquiesced that there is no solution to Covid-19 without some form of “herd immunity.” The admissions, although in passing, are a stunning victory to those Americans who have fought “Lockdown Nation” at every turn as unnecessary and an infringement upon constitutional rights of free assembly and to conduct commerce. Some might call the comments vindication for the anti-lockdown position. Buried in actor Matthew McConaughey’s recent interview with Dr. Fauci, the infectious diseases doctor allowed what the lockdown opponents have said all along: there is no solution to Covid-19 that does not include “herd immunity.”
This is an incredible development because Dr. Fauci is regarded by the “science” crowd as the nation’s top “guru” on what to do about Covid-19. His acknowledgment ought to have been widely reported and burst the balloon of anyone who continues to advocate for the shuttering of the American economy and the draconian martial law that exists in nearly every state in the union, especially the ones controlled by the Democratic Party. Here is Dr. Fauci’s full quote, as reported on CNBC:
“I think with a combination of good public health measures, a degree of global herd immunity and a good vaccine, which I do hope and feel cautiously optimistic that we will get, I think when we put all three of those together, we will get control of this, whether it’s this year or next year. I’m not certain.”
The time has come for the United States to open without restriction, isolating the vulnerable and the elderly and letting those afraid stay home. There is no expiration date on a world of nationwide mask mandates, testing, tracing, and without large social events; anybody who thinks otherwise is naïve or complicit. The prospect of a Joe Biden presidency in which he says he will listen to “science,” and re-shutter the economy is truly frightening. Dr. Fauci’s comments mean in layman’s term that similar with all other viruses and diseases, there is no path “around” Covid-19. We can only hope to go “through” it to the other side.

We’re nowhere near close to herd immunity

In July, also not widely reported, Mike Ryan, the executive director of the WHO’s health emergencies program, also admitted to a role for herd immunity in containing Covid-19, which is not likely to be eradicated ever, but can be controlled. “We’re nowhere near close to (herd immunity), which means this virus has a long way to burn in our communities before we ever reach that,” Ryan said. Most scientists think 60 percent to 80 percent of the population needs to be vaccinated or have natural antibodies to achieve herd immunity, Ryan added, according to a July story also on CNBC. The World Health Organization has advised public officials against trying to achieve herd immunity to Covid 19 by allowing it to RAPIDLY spread throughout their communities, saying it will overwhelm hospitals and kill a lot of people. But that does not mean that herd immunity shouldn’t be allowed to happen SLOWLY and STRATEGICALLY with the healthiest and youngest people becoming exposed to Covid 19 and surviving and protecting the most vulnerable people from contraction. This is the way to achieve herd immunity until we have more viable vaccines, which thanks to President Trump and American ingenuity are being developed. Fauci continues to maintain that it is unlikely the coronavirus will ever be eradicated, though nations can bring the level of infection down to “low levels,” and that requires some form of herd immunity.

“The belief that masks can solve our problem is very dangerous"

Herd immunity is required to containing a virus, according to epidemiologists. Once enough people either get vaccinated or survive the virus so they have the antibodies to fight off new infections and the virus doesn’t have enough new hosts to spread into, then society and the population can be considered safe. Until then, staying in good health is the best defense against Covid-19, particularly eschewing obesity. Adding to the case against Covid-19 hysteria, leading Swedish health experts on Tuesday claimed the country has a falling coronavirus infection rate because it was one of the few that didn’t go into lockdown and has rejected the need for masks. While critics point to that country’s greater rate of death per 100,000 population, nobody knows for sure whether they “paid now,” but might save more over the long run. Arne Elofsson, a professor in biometrics at Stockholm University, thinks the Swedish population has developed a form of immunity: “Strict rules do not work as people seem to break them. Sweden is doing fine,” it was reported on the website Marketwatch. Anders Tegnell, an epidemiologist involved in managing Sweden’s pandemic response, the Financial times called him its architect, thinks masks give a false sense of security: “The belief that masks can solve our problem is very dangerous.” Sweden’s Prime Minister Stefan Löfven thinks voluntary social-distancing rules and not closing schools but banning gatherings of more than 50 people has been the right approach: “Now there are quite a few people who think we were right,” he told a newspaper. “The strategy that we adopted, I believe is right — to protect individuals, (and) limit the spread of the infection.”
