Flaring at Richmond Chevron refinery caused by partial power loss at facility, officials say

RICHMOND, Calif. -- Flaring activity at the Chevron refinery in Richmond was mostly stopped Monday night, about four and a half hours after the process of burning waste gases began because of a partial power failure.

The company said in an update on its Facebook page at 8:55 p.m. that employees had stopped the flaring, but intermittent flaring could still occur as the refinery is brought back up to full production. ---More...
