Florida deputy tears up as 7-year-old offers to buy him breakfast

A bright spot in the war on police is that for every time a server in a fast food restaurant refuses service to police officers there seem to be just as many if not more random acts of kindness by strangers. Deputy Donnie Jackson of the Broward County Sheriff's Office decided to stop at a Dunkin' Donuts before beginning his shift. He ordered breakfast and just as he learned how much he had to pay, he heard a voice say he would pay for it. When Jackson looked down, he saw Austin Feldman, 7. Jackson at first declined until the boy's parents told him their son really wanted to pay. Jackson later said he was glad he was wearing dark glasses because he began to tear up.

The deputy then told the family he would agree to let Austin buy him breakfast on one condition; that the boy would agree to have his picture taken with the officer. Although it is difficult to know for sure, Feldman's parents insist it was their son's idea to pay for the officer's meal because of all the work police officers do. Austin's act of kindness was posted to the Facebook page of the Broward County Sheriff's Office and then was picked up by the local media. One person who learned of the incident was Tiffany Adderley. Adderley's two sons were with their father back in 2003 when he accidently drove into a canal. Deputy Jackson, on his way home, stopped to help. One of the boys, Mortavis Graham, then 2-years-old, was not breathing. Jackson managed to revive him and rescue both boys. Austin's offer to pay for Jackson's breakfast allowed Mortavis, now 14, to be reunited with the man who saved his life. WSVN-TV - 7NEWS Miami Ft.
