Hello, and welcome back once more to the Coverin’ the Bases section of Ridin’ Out the Reccesion! Well, if you’ve been reading our column, this is about trying to help people understand the importance of living simply again, in many ways like our ancestors years ago.

In this column we talk about things such as food storage, gardening, home canning, and the importance of having at least some knowledge of things such as this. Deb and I have been becoming more and more self-sufficient for at least the last two years. With the slowdown of our economy, we decided we needed to make some lifestyle changes and did. Through what we’ve done and have been discussing, we hope we have influenced others into sharing things in their own lives as well. To the many people who have so far stopped and taken the time to share their own ideas, thoughts and knowledge, we’d like to show our appreciation to them now! Thanks so much for what you guys are doing in helping us teach others on these subjects. It couldn’t possibly be done without your help. We’re so very appreciative of your concern and literal love for your fellow man, so please continue with your contributions. We’ll see as we go along that your contributions will surely inspire others to do the same, and in turn inspiring more to do the same, and so on, and so on… as we’re already beginning to see. We as a whole don’t mind helping our friends, family and neighbors. This is the goodness and charity that comes from within ourselves. We do it simply because… we want to! Which is entirely opposite of what our government would like you to think, which is because…we have to. Here is an example of reader feedback that showed a statement I’d made stating hybrid seeds won’t reproduce. This was a misrepresentation on my part, and Choey commented back to us that in this particular instance I was in fact was wrong. Thanks Choey! Interesting article.  I'm looking forward to more.  Just one technical correction.  Hybrid seeds will reproduce just not true to form.  If you plant seeds from a "Hybrid Red Giant" tomato you will not get a "Hybrid Red Giant".  You will, however get a tomato of some kind and when the chips are down, that's what counts. Choey This is how we’ll make Ridin’ Out the Recession, and Coverin’ the Bases work…reader involvement and contribution. This taking place simply by everyone being involved in our cause, which is the attempt once again of helping to teach others more about their own self- reliance, and the benefits in so doing... the sharing of knowledge. As you’ll see just a little later in Reader Comments, we had another reader commenting on the same topic, Hybrid Seeds, and she pointed out as well hybrid seeds will reproduce but not with the very same characteristics of the parent plants. Thanks to you, too Kimberly! Once more, all you guys AND gals are great, please keep being involved, as we’re so appreciative of all your great help! With this all being said, I’d like to dedicate most of today’s column to our readers and the feedback they’ve shared! Once more…thank you all, you’re fantastic, every one of you! Keep your eyes open and your nose in the wind…God Bless! Dub and Deb

Dub and Deb——

‘Ridin Out The Recession With Dub and Deb in “Miz Judi’s Kitchen’!

Note to Readers: There are a few things that Dub doesn’t know but one thing he does know is that the word ‘Riding’ (as in Riding Out the Recession) is spelled with a ‘g’ at the end.  But Dub not only walks the walk, but speaks like he is: down home, true blue, and plain speakin’ country folk.

Dub and Deb are both native Floridians, live in Central Florida, and run a small business as well. They have five children, and seven grandchildren.

Both love to cook, love to laugh, grow a garden, and generally try to “aggravate” most anyone around them basically…all in good fun, of course!
