My Friends, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security are in grave danger. They are practicing on the Military, we are a less controversial and less public target.

Fooled us twice ... gettin’ ready for Obamacare

The ObamaCare SCOTUS decision is an alarm bell for all Citizens. For proof, look at what is happening to the US Military. It is coming soon to your Neighborhood.
This is not a personal lament. It contains facts. It is a Jeremiad for America. It is a dire warning. If Barack Obama, and the Progressive Forces ... masquerading as the Democrat Party in Congress ... are re-elected to the Presidency and take over Congress, the Free American Constitutional Republic will never again be restored. Hear this story of what has happened to soldiers under a socialized medicine system in which we had no choice. See what lies ahead for America. As Cadets [whether West Point or ROTC] we studied and struggled hard for four years to become the most professional Military Officer that we could be. Commissioning source did not matter: Duty, Honor, Country and Integrity mattered. We kept our word. We followed our Oaths. We did our duty. We expect Congress and the President to do the same. I am no expert on Military Health Care, but I have experienced it since 1967 [and it was so much better back then]. I offer some observations and a warning, draw your own conclusions as you will. When commissioned back in 1971, we were told during our Branch Officer Training that we would receive a salary that was much less than we could earn as a civilian, but that disparity was compensated for by life-long Health Care, certain Non-taxable Allowances and a Deferred Compensation Annuity during our retirement [up until our death]. That Retirement Annuity is for Base Salary only and does not compensate us for Healthcare, Housing, Subsistence, allowances that were part of our Active Duty Compensation. The Defense Finance Annuity System provides an annuity that can be as low as 30-40% of what one earned on Active Duty. The one-time, much envied Health Care promise to Retirees has been continually pruned and has withered on the vine every year since before the end of the Vietnam era.

Today, our beloved lawmakers in Congress ... less than 10% of whom have ever served in the military ... are not only slashing the Pentagon Budget by $500 Billion to fund Obamacare, but they have also started looking for ways to slash Military Annuities and what is left of our Health Care Promise because they say that it is too generous. Simply amazing. They now want to institute Health Care enrollment fees and much higher deductibles for Retired Military. Simply shameful. Most Military Retirees are in their mid-forties when they "go out to pasture" as civilians. The Military Service Retirement Pyramid virtually dictates that you retire gracefully at some point because there are no longer enough jobs for your rank. If this were not sufficient cause in and of itself, ones age, old injuries, and arthritis do catch up. Wars are fought and won by younger men and women. Even the best boxer or football player is lucky to still be in the ring or in the game after 35. I can personally attest this: At 45-50, despite wisdom, mental abilities, and physical fitness, one will not keep up with 20-somethings. Hence, you become a liability on the battlefield. So it is off to find a new career at the same time many are already experiencing a mid-life crisis. One goes "from Hero to Zero" ... from the top of the profession to civilian "rookie status." Some of you, due to this current Economic Depression, may know how "fun" this is. Retirees are seen by fellow job seekers as unwanted competition. And, Retirees all know how eager many Civilian Employers are to hire new workers from the military who are 40-50 years old. Civilian Employers often lack the vision to to see where Retired Military can fit into their organization [save for save military contractors and military service providers]. That is a fact of life that every Military Retiree. Many become self-employed or must go back to school to acquire other skill sets. We start over. Now, Folks, think seriously: If the military way of life was so great and provides such a generous Retirement Annuity, don't you think the that there would be lines out the door and the Service Recruiters would be turning people away? In reality, most folks think of the following possibilities and then say, "No thank you."
  • The very real possibility of getting one's derriere blown off, or becoming otherwise maimed or injured.
  • Being sent from pillar to post to new assignments every 2-3 years is a certainty.
  • Being given overseas assignments away from Family, to remote areas and/or combat zones is certain.
  • A higher divorce rate than civilians exists due to the stresses of the military life on Military Families.
  • Never being able to sink in roots or make deep and lasting ties in a geographic area is a fact.
  • Absorbing many moving and housing costs because allowances do not fully compensate is the way it is.
  • Congress being the guarantor and trustee of ones Family welfare and retirement is very scary.
Now. let us examine those Congress-bestowed Health Care Benefits. Here is how your Congress keeps its promises on Health Care to your Nation's Warriors:
  • Visit a VA hospital to see what level of care is given to our wounded, maimed and chronically disturbed Veterans. Talk to Veterans. It is enlightening.
  • How many of you have ever had to be put on a waiting list or have an appointment scheduled months out because Healthcare has established priorities to Active Duty and their Families first?
  • Retirees [who have already completed their 20-30 year careers] who are placed on a stand-by status can have a long scheduled appointment moved back, cancelled, or told there are no more funds available.
  • The Congressional Health Care Promise has been in decrement for decades and the bean-counters still look for ways to balance the budget on the backs of the Military. Congress knows we cannot fight back easily.
  • Speaking of "back," who, exactly, does have our back? In an "outer space" vacuum one cannot hear a scream.
  • There is no longer eye care beyond a yearly exam. Glasses and procedures are not covered.
  • There is no treatment for hearing loss, [a very common occurrence for Retired Military later in life] unless it is VA-substantiated as Service Connected.
  • There is no Dental Care as promised ... zip, nada, zero.
  • Virtually all Retirees make co-payments now, and most all of us must buy secondary insurance to help cover these Family Health Care costs. These Premiums and co-pays are not cheap, as you know, and can run into the thousands of dollars annually.
Consider this premise: This is how the Congress has treated its Active Duty Military Members and their Families, Disabled Veterans and Combat Veterans who depend on the VA for Health Care, and Military Retirees who have given distinguished Military Service for 20 or more years. Question: How well do you think that Congress will manage Obama Care, and for just how much of that "Free Health Care" will you have to pay? Answer: Much Higher taxes are coming. [I wonder if Congress will be covered under the same systems?] My Friends, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security are in grave danger. They are practicing on the Military, we are a less controversial and less public target. Is a lie anything other than a lie because Congress and Obama call it something else? Get ready: To take pills instead of having surgery. Buy a leather strap to bite down on if you can't afford the pills. And, when the Obama Death Panel tells you it is time: Get ready to go on that all expenses paid "drug trip" to the La-La Land Station on your way to Heaven. In this way, you will fulfill your final duty to the Obama State on your way to becoming "SOYLENT GREEN!" NOW: Read The Gateway Pundit article hopefully with a bit more perspective than you may have had. This is where we are headed folks. Some of the comments below the article are instructive too. [Also, note a portion of "Patty's" and "texabama's" remarks below.] Patty commented: If you don’t want to provide free birth control pills to women that constitutes a “war on women.” If you want to cut food stamps, direct welfare payments, etc then that constitutes a “war on the poor.” If you want to cut unconstitutional federal education programs and funding then that constitutes a “war on education, teachers, etc.” If you want to cut free or reduced school breakfast and lunch programs then that constitutes a “war on children.” President Obama has said he will not reduce the deficit on “the backs of the middle class and poor,” meaning cutting unconstitutional federal programs that seemingly support the middle class and poor. But what about the “war on veterans,” and military retirees, people who stood up and volunteered to defend their nation based on certain promised compensation in a career that is specifically constitutional? Where is the outrage? There were approximately 45.8 million Americans on food stamps in 2010 – 2011 and only about 1.39 million military retirees as of the 2010 Census, or about .6% of Americans. There were only about 21.8 million living military veterans in the 2010 census and that number includes the retirees, but more than 50 million Americans on unconstitutional Medicaid programs. Steve Bussy; Trying to Screw Our Military Veterans Again texabama commented: Patty, thanks for your insightful comments. Not only is it atrocious that they want to raise the fees for military (and their families) healthcare, but the real slap is that they are paying for it at all. Most of these retirees were promised free healthcare for themselves and their families. Every year they were serving the military provided them with an annual leave/earnings statement that showed how much this “free healthcare” was worth to justify their smaller paycheck. Like most things from our federal government, it was a LIE.
