For all intents and purposes Canada has gone over to the dark side and become a globalist driven socialist country

This is the fourth in my series to review history and I hope to provide for a better understanding of why America and Canada are facing our 2026 difficulties. Fair warning, my direct approach at times may seem to be harsh, but I am confident CFP/AFP readers can handle the harsh truth as I see it. In this part, I will address what has gone on in the Americas, excluding the United States of America which has its own, unique set of problems.

For all intents and purposes Canada has gone over to the dark side and become a globalist driven socialist country. If Canada has an Islamist problem, it seems to be relatively low-keyed. While Albertans seems to be trying to make a change to make life better for its citizens, and some Canadians are heading to Alberta, the rest of the country seems to have capitulated without much of a fight. The big liberal cities seem to be driving the Canadian political train, which is the downside of a true democracy.

Cuba is, of course, unique in that during the Cold War it was heavily supported by the USSR. After the Iron Curtain fell, Cuba had to look elsewhere and was never as well-supported again. The last Cuban supporter was Venezuela, but after Maduro was relocated, Cuba has had to go it alone and that demonstrates the real problem with socialism. The elites running Cuba may have to invest some of the money previously denied the population to keep things running. Of course, that’s not likely, and the elites will probably take the money and run. So much for the 1959 revolution for the people of Cuba.

All of the Americas, including the USA and the Caribbean, are unique in that the official languages were all imported from their European conquerors. In many countries there are still speakers of the indigenous people’s languages, but the day-to-day business of the nation is done in the respective conquerors’ languages. The Americas are also unique in that they mostly adopted a version of government following the structure of the conquering nation’s government.

However, there are exceptions in 2026. There is, possibly was, a socialist style government in Venezuela, and what results due to the removal of Maduro remains to be seen. With US support, maybe, just maybe there will be a move away from socialism.

That leaves Nicaragua, Brazil, Ecuador, and Bolivia as other countries with socialist/communist-style governments in the Americas. The illegal drug trade has introduced a certain level of “free market” elements into these countries. During the Biden administration, a certain level of free market action kept going in all the Central American countries while invaders from all over the world were passing through to cross the United States southern border.
