The CIA knew full-well that the late Saudi King was a thug, but he was sitting on the biggest and cheapest oil reserve in the world, and he was friendly to the U.S. In other words, he was their thug.

But now that King Abdullah's successor, his half-brother, King Salman is flooding the world with cheap oil in order to prevent the U.S. from developing its shale-oil, the CIA will have to find another friendly oil thug to cozy up to.
