If things go where they appear to be heading in November, you might have to hire a private eye to find a Democrat who managed to survive the coming onslaught – it looks like they’ll be a rare species on Capitol Hill after the first of the year when the hordes of victorious Republicans swarm over Capitol Hill and begin to give America back to the American people.

But as I have written before, in the immediate aftermath of the November elections the Democrats will retain their swollen majorities on Capitol until the GOP takes over the Hill in January and that spells trouble for both the Republicans and the nation. Having had their huge majorities decimated in both House and Senate they are certain to attempt to use their last two months while still in the driver’s seat to try to push through every far left program they know will never be passed by the incoming Republican Congress – and they will still have the votes to prevail. It doesn’t have to happen that way. Their attempts to saddle the nation with a series of huge, vastly expensive Marxist programs can be stopped dead in their tracks if the present Republican minorities in the House and Senate get their backs up, screw up their courage and use every parliamentary ruse in the book in the House to bring that body to a screaming halt for those final two months, In the Senate the filibuster must be the weapon of choice, and as I suggested above, the Kagan nomination presents a fine opportunity to get a little practice in the ancient and honored art of filibustery. By the time the Confirmation hearings reach mid-point Republicans such as Senator Sessions will have drawn blood as they explore some of the nominee’s sometimes bizarre and shocking views that will be shown to be far out of the mainstream of American politics. At that point it will also be apparent that the Democrats have the votes to confirm her and Republicans will have no alternative other than good old Jimmie Stewart style filibusters to keep this radical nominee off the Supreme Court bench. And, as I said, it will be good practice for the two month period where the Democrats will still have control of the Congress with the filibuster being the sole available weapon to stop the last ditch efforts of the other party to bind the nation up in chains forged in November and December. In recent years the GOP minority has displayed a timidity to go all out in fighting for the things in which they say they believe. If the American people turn to them to pull us back from the brink of destruction, they damn well better heed the call. Faugh ‘a ballagh, me hearties. And as ever, Semper Fi
