The United States spends about twice as much protecting us against global warming as it does securing the borders. This news comes on the heels of news that China is building new coal-fueled power plants and has many more, some 300, in the plans.
This might be fine if we didn't live on a planet where we are in an envelope of atmosphere that can transport air pollution around the world. Listen up, environmentalists, this isn't Vegas, What happens in China, specifically pollution, doesn't stay in China, or anywhere else.
And get this, while our people are losing jobs in the coal industry, the World Bank is loaning money to Indonesia for new coal fired power plants. So what you say? Here's what: the United States holds the largest stake in the World Bank and thus wields power over loan decisions. You have to ask, if we are okay with Indonesia building new coal plants then why are we closing ours. This is a double standard that is killing this country.
My point is not about the use of coal. It is about the abuse of American citizens.
