The promotion to change the creed from “Warming” to “Climate Change” was cunning as it allowed more fears to be pushed

Global Warming Confusions

“We are somehow empowering ourselves to assure that the cycle of climate change will be benign if we only replace domestic sources of energy with foreign sources.”– Conrad Black, NP, April 1, 2023.

That Trudeau is determined to reduce domestic production of crude oil and natural gas is difficult to accept. Particularly during the discomforts of government’s essential role in imposing price inflation and still having the hatred on for fossil fuels. Sadly, the delusion extends to nitrogen which for a thousand years farmers have been replacing what is used for each season’s crops.

But not now as Trudeau is still fronting his controllers at the World Economic Forum.

Control freaks, around the world, are dead wrong on carbon dioxide

Delusionally, he is not alone, on February 23rd Breitbart headlined: “WWII-Style Rationing of Meat, Clothing, and Energy Needed to Fight Climate Change, Say UK Academics”.

Control freaks, around the world, are dead wrong on carbon dioxide, but that doesn’t matter. The point is the ancient ploy of using fear to extend control has been successful, but after thirty years the mantra is becoming insufferable. Especially as the temps have been flat-lying over the past twenty years.

Physical chemistry, and within this the gas laws, may be a complex field, but within the review of Henry’s Law there is a key point.

Which is that solubility of a gas in water depends upon the temperature of the water, whereby a cooler ocean can hold more CO2 in solution than when it is warmer.

Quite simply, when the oceans cool they absorb CO2 from the atmosphere and then with a natural warming trend they release ever increasing amounts of carbon dioxide. And the record shows that this lags the natural climate changes by some 600 to 800 years.

The “evil” gas does not “cause” warming but the record shows that warming forces CO2. It’s the other way around, heat drives CO2. And from exceptionally low concentrations from the extreme cold of 12,000 years ago, the increase is becoming outstanding, thanks to modern society. Enough such that satellite coverage shows increasing foliage, bushes and trees, green is even encroaching upon the sands of the Sahara desert.

Warming and cooling are mainly driven by periodic changes in our solar system

Next is that warming and cooling are mainly driven by periodic changes in our solar system. When the Earth’s orbit places it closer to the Sun things get a little warmer. More recently, cosmic rays forcing climate change has become a sound explanation that will be reviewed below.

However, in forcing the wonderful warming since the Little Ice Age that ended in the late 1600s, both orbital mechanics and cosmic rays are changing to cooling. Solar physicists Penn and Livingston in the 1990s predicted the end of increasing solar activity and the Sun is now declining in activity.

The most visual presentation of solar activity is the chart of Sunspots:

More recently Dr. Henrik Svensmark has materially advanced his work on climate variability based upon variations in the intensity of cosmic rays coming in from outer space. During increasing solar activity the intensity of the electro-magnetic field increases which screens out cosmic rays, which in turn reduces cloud cover that is associated with warming. Going the other way, a diminishing field allows more cosmic rays through prompting more cloud cover and cooling.

The IPCC has yet to include this in its monolithic approach to climate, but the next chart shows Svensmark’s work:

Warming periods used to be called “Optimums” and this was unquestioned until June 1988, when Senators Gore and Wirth declared that warming was evil

And it is appropriate to recall that we are in the Pleistocene which geologically defines the last million or so years as an Ice Age with glacial advances alternating with interglacials. The last maximum extent was some 12,000 years ago and there is mounting evidence that this interglacial could be ending and will be followed by a few millennia of climate cooling.

Melting has driven sea levels up by more than 300 feet and the change to cooling will reverse this to declining sea levels. There was permanent ice a mile deep at Chicago, now there is none. But considering the pace of geology, understand with patience.

Not like the promoters who missed not just on extrapolating the warming, but got the consequences of warming wrong. Some 3.5 billion years ago life in the form of microbes began on our eventually hospitable planet that with evolution resulted in mankind. And throughout the history warming has been beneficial and cooling not so good. Check out the life forms now on the Antarctic continent.

Warming periods used to be called “Optimums” and this was unquestioned until June 1988, when Senators Gore and Wirth declared that warming was evil. And what’s more caused by modern society emitting carbon dioxide. Wonderfully beneficial for billions of years, warming suddenly became a threat and labelled as “CO2” a gas essential for life also became a threat.

Just like that, but afterwards Sen. Wirth explained the political operations contrived to get the point across. He had checked with the Weather Bureau for the hottest day of the year in DC. In his words: “So we scheduled the hearing that day, and bingo, it was the hottest day on record. We went in the night before and opened all the windows, so that the air conditioning wasn’t working”.

Dr. James Hansen, a NASA scientist provided his opinion that “primarily” CO2 was the greenhouse gas

And Dr. James Hansen, a NASA scientist provided his opinion that “primarily” CO2 was the greenhouse gas. The notion was wrong then, just as wrong now and 35 years later, the tout is becoming stale. Particularly with little change in temperatures over the past twenty years.

The promotion to change the creed from “Warming” to “Climate Change” was cunning as it allowed more fears to be pushed. These, of course, included anything from rising sea levels to tornados. And despite the fears of heat and drought, the cordillera from New Mexico to the Yukon gets record amounts of snow.

For example, Sun Valley in Idaho has always had terrific skiing with little snow. And in checking their report for this week: Snow cover is at 65 inches, which compares to the usual 30 inches. And the recent range has been from 9 inches in 2015 to 45 inches in 2017.

That with an uncritical media AGW was launched soon becoming the sensational CAGW well on the way to becoming one of the greatest hoaxes in history.

The following chart shows Mann’s contrived “Hockey Stick” as well as the more representative version by Ball:

And the last image is a cartoon that I had drawn in 2008:

He considers now to be the most fascinating time for both since the Great Reformation of the 1600s.  Bob casts a caustic eye on all promotions and, having a degree in geophysics, is severely critical of the audacity that a committee can “manage” not just the economy, but also the temperature of the nearest planet. He has had articles published in major financial journals and, as a speaker, has amused assemblies in a number of cities, from London to Zurich to Tokyo.
