Government Wants A Monopoly On Taking People Into Custody Or Using Deadly Force:
The Backdrop of the Daniel Penny Case

I just finished this x thread:
'Way back when as a bounty hunter I kept pepper spray on me (still do) because taking bail fugitives into custody can become combative or worse.
(Having a less lethal device can help keep conflicts from ending fatally, something to seriously consider well in advance as the one who will be scrutinized).
Once someone is in your custody that person is your responsibility. Any severe injury or death makes you (a) subject of investigation.
Given some police officers & prosecutors hostility toward private citizens (which bounty hunters still are), not only is avoiding unnecessary use of force advisable, it's the smart thing to do.
Same applies to two fisted good Samaritans like (Daniel) Penny. Government isn't enthused by people doing policing and even less so when subjects die in custody.
Govt wants a monopoly on taking people into custody or using force and makes doing so a risky proposition in many situations.
Hence the proliferation of self defense insurance products offered by gun advocacy organizations.
This is an assessment of the backdrop of private capture and use of force, minus racial considerations of the Penny case.'
