Great news: Raul Castro considers Obama 'an honest man
Well this just warms the heart. A highly emotional Marxist dictator goes through a long list of grievances with American presidents for their horrendous crimes against the despotic regime that rules the socialist paradise.
But then . . . but then . . . he comes to the one president who is different. Yes, finally, after so many years of waiting for an American president who would understand, who would be different, who would not attempt to undermine the soul-sucking communism still lurking just 90 miles from our shores, finally, a geriatric Soviet stooge finds a man he can consider a kindred spirit.
Castro, in a meandering, nearly hour-long speech to the Summit of the Americas, ran through an exhaustive history of perceived Cuban grievances against the U.S. dating back more than a century—a vivid display of how raw passions remain over American attempts to undermine Cuba’s government. Then, in an abrupt about face, he apologized for letting his emotions get the best of him. He said many U.S. presidents were at fault for that troubled history — but that Obama isn’t one of them. “I have told President Obama that I get very emotional talking about the revolution,” Castro said through a translator, noting that Obama wasn’t even born when the U.S. began sanctioning the island nation. “I apologize to him because President Obama had no responsibility for this.” In a remarkable vote of confidence from a Cuban leader, Castro added: “In my opinion, President Obama is an honest man.”

Of course, Raul still has his health insurance, but let's not pick nits. All a bad actor on the global scale is really looking for is someone who won't judge him, don't you know? That's why the Iranians can deal with Obama. That's why the Russians run roughshod all over him. What Obama represents as far as American presidents are concerned is a despot's dream. He's a guy who doesn't really think America is any better than they are - or at least we weren't any better until he came along. Obama's not interested in challenging foreign dictators who violate the human rights of their people because getting into such confrontations does nothing to help Obama turn America into a state-directed socialist paradise all its own. Ask the Chinese about that. You make your decisions, we'll make ours, bro. What's not to love about Obama if your goal is to continue oppressing your people and have the U.S. leave you the hell alone about it? He's your man. And if you're Raul Castro and you want to see the trade embargo ended, you want Guantanamo Bay returned to you, and you want the pressure off concerning human rights, you'd better hurry up and make a deal with Obama because he won't be around that much longer, and the next president might not be so pliable. You'd think Obama would at least feign some degree of shame about being praised so lavishly by such a thug, but my guess is that he actually enjoyed it too much to bother. In his heart of hearts, Obama thinks we've been to hard on the Castros, and he agrees with their criticisms of his predecessors. He loves being the guy they see as the hope of all hopes. Then again, a lot of Americans used to feel that way about him too. If I were Raul Castro, I'd take note. Putting your hope in Barack Obama can lead to some pretty bitter disappointment.
