It's all part of the liberal narrative. Science that doesn't agree with the media's agenda is treated as if it's myth, or simply ignored.

Hidden Climate Change Stories

Investor's Business Daily (IBD) published a recent article titled “Three global warming stories the media don't want you to see.” Before giving the details they ask the question: Want to know the latest global warming news? Don't bother looking in US media. They can't be bothered with stories that contradict the man-made climate change narrative. But the truth is out there. (1)
IBD was being kind to the media since there are more than just three stories that have been either kept quite or over-hyped with scary rhetoric. Here are the IBD stories with added information and also some other examples they could have used.

Climate Models Too Simplistic

NASA has found the Earth has cooled in areas of heavy industrialization where more trees have been lost and more fossil fuel burning takes place. This, of course, is opposite of what we've been told for decades. (2) The findings confirm that the aerosols from fossil fuel combustion actually cool the local environment, at least temporarily as they reflect solar radiation away from the planet. As IBD says, “The US press couldn't get out of bed to cover the story. As far as we can tell, the media ignored it entirely.”

Kate Marvel, the NASA paper's lead author, said the results showed the 'complexity' of estimating future global temperatures. She adds, “Because earlier studies do not account for what amounts to a net cooling effect for parts of the northern hemisphere, predictions for TCR (Transient Climate Response) and ECS (Equilibrium Climate Sensitivity) have been lower than they should be.” The study found existing models for climate change had been too simplistic and did not account for these factors.

Polar Bears

Remember, we have been told over and over again that man-made global warming was a grave threat to polar bears, which are an endangered species. Yet, here's a study telling us that 'scientists now estimate that there are around 975 polar bears in the Norwegian region, whereas they estimated a number of 685 in 2004. Another study has found them to be in 'excellent' condition, with some being 'as fat as pigs.'(3) Here's some additional information not covered by IBD. Susan Crockford reports, “Polar bears are still a conservation success story with a global estimate almost certainly greater than 25,000. We can say for sure that there are more polar bears now than there were 40 years ago.” (4) The most recent status assessment for polar bears published by Environment Canada shows only two sub-populations are 'likely in decline,' down from four listed as declining in 2013 and seven in 2010. Polar bears have been shown to move from areas with unsuitable ice to areas with better ice conditions, even over the short term—evidence of their ability to adapt to changing sea ice.

Corrupted Temperature Data

Anthony Watts reports in his recent study, “The majority of weather stations used by the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to detect the climate change temperature signal have been compromised by encroachment of artificial surfaces like concrete, asphalt, and heat sources like air conditioner exhausts. This study demonstrates conclusively that this issue affects temperature trend and that NOAA's methods are not correcting for this problem, resulting in an inflated temperature trend. It suggests that the trend for US temperature will need to be corrected.” He adds, “We also see evidence of this same sort of siting problem around the world at many other official weather stations, suggesting that the same upward bias on trend data manifests itself in the global temperature record.” This study suggests that the 30-year trend of temperatures for the continental US since 1979 are about two-thirds as strong as official NOAA temperature trends. (5) Watts says there's also evidence of this same sort of siting problem around the world at many other official weather stations, suggesting that the same upward bias on trend also manifests itself in the global temperature record. This statement is supported by climatologist Dr. Tim Ball who says that modern instrumental data is inadequate. There are virtually no data for 70 percent of the Earth's surface that is oceans. Also, there are practically no data for the 19 percent of land area that are mountains, 20 percent that are desert, 20 percent boreal forest, 20 percent grasslands, and 6 percent tropical rain forest. (6) One reason for this discrepancy is that NOAA has been cherry-picking its raw data. That is, it has ignored the evidence from those weather stations showing little or no late twentieth century warming and instead placed undue emphasis on the ones that do show warming. But the ones that do show warming happen to be the least trustworthy. These are the ones which have been most corrupted by the Urban Heat Island effect and other environmental factors. If, however, you look at those weather stations that haven't been corrupted--'unperturbed stations'--what you get is US global warming roughly half as much as NOAA claims. An added factor- another recent report states that at least half of the post-1970 warming was due solely to Atlantic oscillation. (7) Here are some added examples IBD could have included.

Arctic Sea Ice

Announcements that the Arctic sea ice would soon disappear have been among the most favorite claims made by publicity-seeking climatologists and leading American politicians. According to them, there isn't supposed to by any Arctic sea ice today. (8) So, what has happened? The Arctic ice has not disappeared, rather after shrinking from 1980 to 2012 it has risen over the past years and 2015 saw a Northwest Passage that was no longer possible to cross—too much ice. Arctic sea ice decline has paused along with temperature. This marks the ninth straight year of Artic sea ice recovery. (9)

Antarctic Ice

Pierre Gosselin reports on 5 very recent papers that show Antarctic ice is much more stable than originally believed. (10) The South Pole has seen no warming for 37 years. For the whole of the satellite record, the South Pole region has had a negative trend. So much for fingerprinting of warming due to enhance greenhouse effect causing greater warming at the Poles. (11)

Ocean Acidification

The New York Times published an article entitled “Our deadened carbon-soaked seas, October 16, 2015 that at first glance is very scary. The oceans are acidifying due to human carbon dioxide emissions! We are hurting marine life, and ourselves in the process! But upon a second read one notices sentences that include words and phrases such as 'may,' 'could,' and 'almost certainly.' If the oceans are really in such dire straits, why would they use phrases that indicate doubt? Is it because they know that many of the claims they are making are not proven at all? Yes, shockingly, that is the case reports Megan Toombs. (12) An NOAA scientist, Dr. Shallin Busch, commented on the NY Times article before publication and specifically pointed out that there has been no harm from ocean acidification yet, and that they “don't have any data sets that show a direct effect of ocean acidification on population health or trajectory.” Ocean acidification is an alarmist topic that has been easily manipulated because most people lack even a basic understanding of the acid/alkaline scale. Here's an example of how one species responded to 'ocean acidification.' Evolution is usually thought of as occurring over long time periods, but it can also happen quickly. Consider a tiny fish whose transformation after the 1964 Alaskan earthquake was uncovered by University of Oregon scientists and their University of Alaska collaborators. (13) The earthquake made some parts of the Pacific into ponds on a few islands. Fifty years later and the fish in those are now freshwater fish. Apparently the genes for dealing with that sort of wild extreme change are held by some of the fish in the crowd and natural selection can work its wonders in a decade. As Joanne Nova notes, “In terms of ocean acidification, this is as catastrophic as it gets. Not only did the ocean become 'more acidic' but it stopped being an ocean. It can't get much worse than this for a fish, and yet somehow life on Earth had the answer. What's the pH of those ponds? The ocean pH is 8.1, rain is 5.5. Those ponds will be somewhere in between.” (14) “We've moved the timescale of the evolution of stickleback fish to decades, and it may even be sooner than that,” said UO biologist William Cresko, whose lab led the National Science Foundation funded research. “In some of the populations we studied we found evidence of changes in fewer than even 10 years. For the field, it indicates that evolutionary change can happen quickly, and this likely has been happening with other organisms as well.” (15)

Carbon Dioxide Emissions

Folks get excited over carbon dioxide and its emissions. It is still widely believed that the carbon emissions of our modern industrial civilization will cause catastrophic global warming. There Is endless talk of carbon emissions, carbon pollution, carbon footprint, carbon offsets, carbon rationing, carbon tax and carbon trading. (16) Carbon dioxide only accounts for a scant 39 thousandths of a percent of our planet's atmosphere. And what percentage of the minuscule amount of CO2 is produced by man, including the use of fossil fuels? According to a thorough analysis by the Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center, a research wing of the US Department of Energy, it is only 3.207%. All of the hoopla over an atmospheric component so minute, it is difficult to comprehend, reports Brian Sussman. (17) Another analysis: In every 85,800 molecules of air only one is a molecule of CO2 produced by humans. That this can warm Earth is nonsense. That the IPCC and the federal government want us to believe that in every 85,800 molecules of air, a single CO2 molecule produced by humans warms the planet yet the other 32 produced by Nature does not is insane. (18) Why is the IPCC hiding the fact that only 3% of global emissions of CO2 are human-made?

Summary

All of the above are significant stories. But instead of doing its due journalistic diligence, the press would rather muse about the effect climate change might by playing on the warm Christmas weather in the Eastern part of the US.
