Hillary's Waterloo: IG's devastating report destroys every lie she's told about her e-mail server

It's not news to you or to me that Hillary is a shameless liar, nor is it any shocking revelation that she's fairly bad at it. It's always obvious when she's lying - yes, I know, her lips are moving - because she doesn't know how to appear sincere, she doesn't cover her tracks very well and she easily gets flustered whenever someone doesn't just accept her nonsense at face value. But it's one thing for you and me to know Hillary is a liar. We've been there for decades. It's another thing entirely when the evidence is so overwhelming - and coming from, of all places, the inspector general of the very State Department she once ran - that even the Beltway media and the icons of the political class feel they can no longer pretend not to notice.

Rob was right on top of this story yesterday, so for this followup I want to focus on how completely the dam appears to have broken here. To whatever extent official Washington was previously willing to put its head in the sand and pretend nothing was amiss here, the IG report has blown that status quo up completely. The IG's report was so detailed and so extensive, no one today wants to risk their reputation by pretending to still believe anything Hillary says. And why would they? Consider all the Hillary lies the IG report obliterates:

• She only set up the homebrew server for her own convenience.
• There was no security risk.
• She fully cooperated with investigators.
• What she did was "allowed."
• She turned over all her work e-mails in their entirety.
• All she did was the same thing previous Secretaries of State did.

Every single one of these statements, she has made multiple times in an attempt to shield herself from culpability. Today, the State Department inspector general has so thoroughly and convincingly exposed these claims as lies, Hillary is left without even the cover she usually receives from her media protectors.

In other words, she's in deep s***. Two key passages from the AP's coverage:

The 78-page analysis, a copy of which was obtained by The Associated Press, says Clinton ignored clear directives. She never sought approval to conduct government business over private email, and never demonstrated the server or the Blackberry she used while in office "met minimum information security requirements." Twice in 2010, information management staff at the State Department raised concerns that Clinton's email practices failed to meet federal records-keeping requirements. The staff's director responded that Clinton's personal email system had been reviewed and approved by legal staff, "and that the matter was not to be discussed any further." The audit found no evidence of a legal staff review or approval. It said any such request would have been denied by senior information officers because of security risks.

So IT staff continually warned Hillary's people that this setup was not secure and completely against policy, contrary to Hillary's claim that it was "allowed." Then there are the matters of whether the security of the server was ever breached, or whether she cooperated with the investigation. Yeah. It was. And she didn't: The audit said a Clinton aide had to shut down the server on Jan. 9, 2011, because he believed "someone was trying to hack us." Later that day, he said: "We were attacked again so I shut (the server) down for a few min."

The next day, a senior official told two of Clinton's top aides not to email their boss "anything sensitive," saying she could "explain more in person." On CBS' "Face the Nation" this month, Clinton said, "I've made it clear that I'm more than ready to talk to anybody, anytime. And I've encouraged all of (my staff) to be very forthcoming." The audit said three of her closest State Department aides - Mills, Abedin and policy chief Jake Sullivan - declined interview requests. In fact, according to The Hill, Hillary refused to be interviewed by the IG for the report, as did 21 of 26 Hillary aides who were asked to take part in the investigation. So let's review: She knew full well she was in violation of policy and ignored requests to comply. She knew full well there were security risks associated with the setup. Her staff told IT personnel to stop asking because they would no longer talk about it. And she did not cooperate with the IG's investigation despite her claim that she did. And this is so bad, that her usual media defenders are bailing. All you conservatives who are so bothered by Donald Trump that you're willing to see this woman instilled with the constitutional power of the presidency, please explain that one again. You all look like fools - almost as big a fool as Hillary. Time for Biden to swoop in and save the day?
