House Dems’ resolution: Global warming will push women into ‘transactional sex’

Here I am digging the fact that our 793-month winter seems to finally be coming to an end, and I was able to bike to work today and now I'm sitting outside perfectly comfortable in shorts and a t-shirt. When lo and behold, I discover that this very same warmth is going to turn your daughter into a ho!
The Hill, er, "reports" on the latest mutterings of California Democrat Barbara Lee:
Several House Democrats are calling on Congress to recognize that climate change is hurting women more than men, and could even drive poor women to "transactional sex" for survival. The resolution, from Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) and a dozen other Democrats, says the results of climate change include drought and reduced agricultural output. It says these changes can be particularly harmful for women. "[F]ood insecure women with limited socioeconomic resources may be vulnerable to situations such as sex work, transactional sex, and early marriage that put them at risk for HIV, STIs, unplanned pregnancy, and poor reproductive health," it says.

Why stop there? If global warming is going to bring hardship, and hardship inspires desperate behavior, isn't anything possible? Where are the warnings about cannibalism, beastiality (wait, is it still OK to disapprove of that?), necrophilia and rampant dumpster diving? They could all happen, couldn't they? Get some Democrats busy writing press releases about this! Lee also is upset that women are "critically underrepresented in the development of climate change policy." So what does that mean? That efforts to cool the Earth should focus more on chick-type hangouts? Well, I'll let Lee explain it:
"My resolution will affirm the commitment to include and empower women in economic development planning and international climate change policies and practices," she said. "This will help communities adapt to climate impacts, and embark on a path towards clean and sustainable development." The resolution calls on Congress to recognize the effects on women, and to use "gender-specific frameworks in developing policies to address climate change." It says Congress recognizes the need for "balanced participation of men and women" in climate change adaption efforts, and that Congress will support women who are vulnerable to climate change. Finally, it encourages the president to "integrate a gender approach in all policies and programs" related to climate change, and to ensure these policies "support women globally to prepare for, build resilience for, and adapt to climate change."
So what does any of this mean? Your guess is as good as mine, but here's mine: The point is to do or say something that will reignite panic over global warming. It used to be that islands would end up under water or something. All of this is hard to sustain when we haven't had any measurable global warming for the past 15 years and people are losing their inclination to take the global warmists seriously. That's too bad because global warming policy is really nothing more than a grab-bag of goodies for left-wing constituencies, and Lee wants to make sure hers get theirs. So, think big: Global warming will drive women into "transactional sex"! Is it just me, or do Democrats not show very much respect for women when they imply that women's likely method of coping with "global warming" would be to take their clothes off and sell their bodies? Or do they just think that because we'll all be more comfortable stripping down in the Hot Kingdom To Come?
