How Long Do We Have?

How Long Do We Have?Recently, in Ray DiLorenzo’s CFP article “The End of America?” he asked why America was going in the direction it is going. Ray did a wonderful job of explaining United Nations Agenda 21 and Agenda 2030 as the mechanisms being used in the attempted destruction of the United States of America and the free world as we know it. He explained “the how,” but “the why” is a far more base aspect of human nature: self-interest. About the time that America’s Founding Fathers were creating our Constitution, Alexander Tyler, was a Scottish history professor and jurist at the University of Edinburgh. A theory has been attributed to Tyler in regard to the life cycle of a democracy.

The decline in active participation in Christian churches, and the associated decline of Judeo-Christian moral values

The theory states that a democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury (that’s self-interest). From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, those civilizations always progressed through the following sequence:
  1. from bondage to spiritual faith;
  2. from spiritual faith to great courage;
  3. from courage to liberty;
  4. from liberty to abundance;
  5. from abundance to complacency;
  6. from complacency to apathy;
  7. from apathy to dependency;
  8. from dependency back into bondage.
Whether Tyler was the originator of this theory or not isn’t important. This theory seems to describe the path our American society has followed. Since about the time of President Lyndon Johnson, the Marxist Democrat Party and their minions, have strived to make more and more individual Americans, state and local governments dependent on the federal government. After President Donald Trump demonstrated that Americans wanted more and could actually produce more, Making America Great Again, the Biden Administration and its Marxist minions have put on a full court press to accelerate government dependency, even to the extent of giving foreign invaders (illegal aliens) government benefits not available to American citizens. That is Marxism on display in its full glory! In the last half of the 20th century America clearly achieved Stage 4 (Abundance) of the theory and began to enter Stage 5 (Complacency) after the turn of the century. For a very short window of time we were blasted out of Stage 5, by 9/11, but that didn’t last very long. The decline in active participation in Christian churches, and the associated decline of Judeo-Christian moral values, would seem to suggest America has reached Stage 6 (Apathy). In the 2020 election, it seems clear that in the Marxist Democrat jurisdictions the voters have discovered they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. Encouraged by the federal government and their Marxist minions in the media and big business, too many Americans are willingly accepting the fraudulent victimhood being foisted on them and are ready to get what someone has convinced them is “owed” them.

America is only a very short step away from Stage 7 (Dependency) which is inevitably followed by Stage 8 (Bondage again). But fear not; there is one serious fly in the ointment in regard to the Marxists achieving Stage 8 in the United States of America. The kink not foreseen in the cycle of a democratic republic is the United States Constitution and specifically the Second and Tenth Amendments. The Founding Fathers had the foresight to provide provisions for the citizens of America to correct a wayward federal government. Even though, the states have been weak on the enforcement of the Tenth Amendment, it is not too late to reclaim state’s rights and invoke the limits on the federal government as defined in the U.S. Constitution, even if all three branches of the federal government resist. However, here is the challenge. Will the individual state and local governments be willing to get off the federal government dole? Dependency is not only an individual problem. Dependency is a state and local government problem as well. There is still a narrow window of time to remove the Marxist government and the Marxists that have infiltrated all levels of government. The 2022 elections will probably provide the last opportunity for a peaceful, orderly transition back to an individual liberty focused government in America and each of its states. Failure at the voting booth will likely see the words of Thomas Jefferson come to pass: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." My prayer is that the majority of Americans will come to their senses and recognize the promise of Marxism for the lie that it is. Failing that, my hope is that the majority of the misguided useful idiots remain as apathetic toward a new American patriotism movement as they have toward Marxism while the situation is corrected. There are American patriots willing to save the apathetic from themselves.
