"Millions for defense, sir, but not one cent for tribute!" "Steny" Hoyer, Nancy Pelosi, and their Progressive Democrat Pals in the House and Senate seriously need to go into retirement in 2012. The House Majority leader wants to freeze Military Pay [except, curiously, not for those deployed to combat zones]. They propose this even as they simultaneously they want to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." What are these people smoking?

This guy simply doesn't get it. He hasn't a clue about military service. Troops [from any branch of service] all receive much less than the private sector wages and Government Service [GS] compensation. Troops also endure long separations from family and loved ones while living under the most inhospitable and nasty conditions one can imagine. Privacy, perquisites, and benign social engineering laboratories do not exist in military service. So who is "Steny" Hoyer? Here is an excerpt of his Wikipedia Biography: Jean (née Hoyer was "Hoyer was born in New York City but grew up in Mitchellville, Maryland. His mother, Jean (née Baldwin), was American, and his father, Steen Theilgaard Høyer, was Danish and a native of Copenhagen; "Steny" is a variant of his father's name, "Steen", and Hoyer is an anglicized form of the fairly common Danish surname "Høyer". He graduated from Suitland High School in Suitland, Maryland. In 1963, he graduated magna cum laude from the University of Maryland, College Park, where he also became a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. in 1966.For four years, from 1962 to 1966 , Hoyer was a member of the staff of United States Senator Daniel Brewster (D-Maryland), also on Senator Brewster's staff at that time was Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. In 1966, Hoyer won a seat in the Maryland State Senate, representing Prince George's County, Maryland. In 1975, Hoyer was elected President of the Maryland State Senate, the youngest in state history. In 1978, Hoyer sought the Democratic nomination for Lieutenant Governor of Maryland but lost out to Samuel Bogley. In the same year Hoyer was appointed to the Maryland Board of Higher Education, a position he served in until 1981. Elected to the U.S. Representative for Maryland's 5th congressional district, serving since 1981, and the House Majority Leader since 2007. He is a member of the Democratic Party." Tell me what Airborne Ranger Infantry Sergeant [E5] Smith, who jumps into "Indian Territory" with a squad of lethal professionals, and hunts bad guys, has in common with you,"Steny" Hoyer, or one of your GS11 Administrative Assistants who earns much more than what Sergeant Smith receives in compensation? The Sergeant is highly trained, specialized, and super motivated. He understands the seriousness of his business. As a bonus to the taxpayer, he neither reads the newspaper nor balances his checkbook while on those dangerous missions, any given day, 24/7/365. Let us proceed with this comparison in view of revelations about government Employee pay. The 2010 annual pay of a notional GS11, Step 5 employee in Mr. Hoyer's Washington D.C. office is $70,794.00. This is after receiving their 2.42 % pay raise from the 2009 rate schedule. Mr. Hoyer [excuse me ... "Representative Hoyer," I know you worked hard for that title] can you answer the question? Representative Hoyer, you really don't have a clue about what Sergeant Smith does, or how much he is compensated, do you? Sergeant Smith's pay [assuming that he is an E5 with over four years time in service and including hazardous duty, hostile fire and incentive allowances that he would receive while in Afghanistan] amounts to $41,556.00 per year while in-country. Hopefully Sergeant Smith would return home safely. When he comes back home to U.S. Soil, his pay drops to $35,328.00 per year, assuming that he lives in Bachelor Enlisted Quarters. So let us review the bidding: The Progressive Democrats, like Representative Hoyer, would give Ten Million Illegal Aliens Tribute: Citizenship, Welfare, Public Education, Reduced/Free Tuition at our Universities, Social Security Benefits, and Health Care at Taxpayer expense. BUT, they want to freeze Military Pay and Allowances. That dog won't hunt. Sadly, these same Progressive Democrats apparently do not deem our brave Warriors, the Keepers of the Flame of Freedom, worthy of the special considerations they deserve. It is about time we elected some folks who understand the true nature of Freedom. Freedom is not Free. Our Armed Forces members should not have their pay frozen; they earn every penny of their pay at risk of life and limb. Will the Plutonian People please beam this guy, Representative "Steny" Hoyer [D-Pluto] and all of his pals, back out to their planet where they belong?
