Huhne: the final nail in the coffin of Cameron’s lousy Coalition?

Cameron – true Heir to Blair that he is – thus intends to offer us less choice, more constrained markets and higher prices

By James Dellingpole, UK Telegraph Some things are beyond a joke and one of them is our energy secretary Chris Huhne “the Eco Loon”. Short of Osama Bin Laden as Minister of Transport, Caroline Lucas as Business Secretary, and Marcus Brigstocke as Minister for Comedy, it’s really quite hard to think of an appointment that could be less conducive to the welfare of Britain and her people.

But today, the Eco Loon has truly surpassed himself. Today is the day he attempts to persuade parliament that it is somehow in British interests to: 1. Destroy our economy. More...

Millions facing fuel rationing over Christmas as heating oil runs low

An estimated two million homes, schools and hospitals face fuel rationing over Christmas after MPs warned that supplies of heating oil would hit "crisis" point during the cold snap By Rosa Prince, Political Correspondent, UK Daily Telegraph As snow began falling again across the country, the Government confirmed that the situation could become “very serious,” with some households already facing waits of up to four weeks before they can receive supplies. The Office of Fair Trading announced that it was monitoring allegations of price fixing among suppliers, as the average cost of a litre of oil leapt to more than 70p from just over 40p a month ago. Around six per cent of households rely on heating oil, many in remote areas away from mains supplies. Six out 10 families in Northern Ireland, 505,000 homes, are dependent on oil deliveries.

Inhofe: WikiLeaks climate revelations show Obama’s ‘desperation’

By John Rossomando - The Daily Caller The revelation that the Obama administration used a covert CIA program to dig up dirt on countries opposed to the Copenhagen climate treaty shows a White House desperate to enforce its orthodoxy on global warming, Oklahoma Republican Sen. James Inhofe told The Daily Caller. Earlier this month, The Guardian newspaper reported that State Department administration officials, acting at the request of the CIA, sent a secret cable on July 31, 2009, asking U.S. diplomats to gather intelligence on other countries’ preparations for the then-pending Copenhagen climate conference. The request also asked diplomats to be on the lookout for indications that countries were not fostering environmental cooperation and for evidence of countries circumventing U.N.-sponsored environmental treaties. The cables do not make clear whether CIA Director Leon Panetta was directly involved in the request. Panetta has a long, documented history of environmental activism, particularly on climate change, going back several decades.

£500 A Year on Your Power Bill As UK Turns to 'Green' Energy

By John Ingham, UK Express HOUSEHOLD energy bills could soar by at least £500 under a Government plan to move to greener fuels, experts warned yesterday Energy Secretary Chris Huhne has admitted consumers will end up paying more through a new carbon tax but calculates it will only be an extra £160 by 2030. But sources, including price comparison website uSwitch, believe more than three times that figure will be added to the average annual power bill of £1,157. It would mean a typical family in Britain paying around £10 a week more for Mr Huhne’s “green revolution”.
