MARKHAM, ON, - Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. announced today that with record sales of 14,301 units in April, the company has now attained 40 consecutive months of year-over-year sales growth. On a year-to-date basis, sales have climbed by 5.6% to 43,632 units.

"The consistency of our sales growth is a testament to Hyundai's standing among the very best in the industry," confirmed Steve Kelleher, President and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. "This result has been built not on the strength of one or two models, but on a comprehensive line-up of class-leading products. With every stylish and technologically-advanced new vehicle we bring to market, Hyundai is changing the landscape of the Canadian automotive industry." In April, for the second month in a row, the award-winning Elantra sedan broke its all-time record with sales of 4,310 units. April also marked the global debut of the all-new 2013 Santa Fe crossover during simultaneous press conferences at the New York and Vancouver International Auto Shows. A 5-passenger model featuring powerful-yet-efficient Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) four-cylinder engines will arrive at dealers this fall. Early next year, a V6-powered long-wheelbase variant will be available for buyers seeking 7-passenger space and versatility. In April, Hyundai vehicles consuming less than 5.0 L/100 km represented 51% of total sales. The Sonata Hybrid intermediate sedan, Elantra compact sedan, Accent subcompact, and Veloster 3-door coupe consume fuel at respective rates of just 4.6, 4.9, 4.8, and 4.9 L/100km on the highway.
