Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. today announced it had sold 9,138 units in October 2010, representing an increase of 8.6 percent over the same month last year and the 21st consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains.
Year-to-date, Hyundai has sold 104,664 units, an increase of 14.9 percent over the first 10 months of 2009. Hyundai sold a record 103,233 units in all 12 months of 2009. With October's sales figures, the company in on-track for setting a new company record in 2010.
"Achieving 100,000 units in annual sales last year was a significant step in Hyundai Canada's development in this country," said Steve Kelleher, President and CEO, Hyundai Canada. "That we were able to surpass that figure in less than 10 months this year plainly illustrates the growth we're experiencing. More and more Hyundai vehicles are finding a home in Canadian driveways."
The Hyundai Tucson was also honoured with the Best New SUV/CUV (under $35,000) award from the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada late last month.-- Added Kelleher: "The Tucson winning its category is indicative of just how appropriate this vehicle is for Canada. Indeed, the Tucson's sales performance is a big reason why we have strong sales this year and we're building them as fast as we can."
The Sonata and Santa Fe vehicles in the Hyundai line-up showed strong sales in the market, recording increases of 76.4 and 20 percent, respectively.
