MARKHAM, ON, - A strong commitment to providing Canadians with high-quality, fuel-efficient vehicles with stand-out design has led Hyundai Canada to see tremendous growth in the Canadian automotive sector in 2011. With a 9.2 per cent sales increase year-to-date, Hyundai was recently named the best-selling passenger car brand in Canada. Hyundai is celebrating by adding its 200th dealership and a new vehicle, the three-door Veloster coupe, to its line-up.
"At Hyundai Canada, we understand that the modern consumer is looking for elements like fuel-efficiency, design and quality. We're thrilled to offer vehicles including the Equus, Genesis and new Veloster that satisfy these preferences," said Steve Kelleher, President and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. "Because of this, the perception of the Hyundai brand is changing. We now have one of the highest quality ratings in the industry." August 2011 marked the 32nd consecutive month of sales growth for Hyundai Canada with 11,507 units sold. Year-to-date, Hyundai vehicles have increased 9.2 per cent to 92,981 units. To support the increase in sales, Hyundai launched its 200th dealership in Winnipeg on September 9.

Also helping to boost Hyundai's position in the automotive market this year was the introduction of two new Hyundai models, the Genesis and the Veloster. The launch of the Genesis raised the bar with high-quality, bold design and breakthrough levels of refinement and performance at an affordable price. The brand new Veloster 3-door coupe launched sales in August. With its Fluidic Sculpture design, fuel-efficient engine and compact size, it's a perfect vehicle for an urban landscape. Hyundai car sales prove to be an indicator of Canadian consumers' commitment to sustainability - fuel efficient vehicles make up nearly 50 per cent of total sales. The 2011 Sonata Hybrid, Accent subcompact, Elantra compact and Veloster 3-door coupe all consume less than 5.0L/100km on the highway. Environmental consciousness will remain at the forefront of Hyundai's business strategy and is expected to continue to drive sales.
