Mysterious job killer from Washington D.C. strikes again.

Iconic Bonnie Doon ice cream factory closing - thanks to Obamacare

According to the owners of the Bonnie Doon ice cream factory in Indiana, Obamacare has forced them to shut their doors. They admit there are other factors - including the realities of trying to operate a small business in the Obama economy - but they say the number one reason they're closing is the impending cost of Obamacare implementation.
According to the Elkhart Chamber of Commerce it's a problem that's worrying many local businesses - one that's causing companies to think twice about new hires. From WJSV-IN

FOX28 talked with the CFO who confirmed the anticipation of the Affordable Care Act played a large part in the shutdown, something Kyle Hannon, Elkhart Chamber of Commerce President says many small businesses are wrestling with. "Our businesses have been concerned, kind of wondering 'how much is this going to cost? How is it going to impact us?" He says he doesn't expect any big layoffs or shutdowns like at Bonnie Doon because most companies are already making adjustments. "Companies that were right on the edge of hiring more employees have held back because they don't want to go over that magic 50 employee number." FOX28 checked with St. Joseph County's Chamber of Commerce as well and they say they have the same concerns. Under the Affordable Care Act, businesses with 50 or more full-time employees have to offer full-time workers a health care plan and Hannon fears this will stunt company growth. "We're still coming out of the recession and we're doing very well, but you wonder how much better we could be doing now if people could hire large numbers without worrying about implications."
Wait a minute. This newscast seems to be suggesting that Obamacare is placing so much pressure on some small businesses that they fold. Meanwhile, others have stopped hiring in an effort stay below the number of full-time employees that would trigger compulsory enrollment! That simply can't be true! As I wrote earlier today, when another regional newscast figured out the truth of the "Affordable" Care Act: Why, this report is shocking! My goodness, wasn't there anyone predicting that exactly this sort of thing would happen? If only there had been some politician or party that could have warned these poor people! Of course, conservatives have been making these points for years, but it's still fun to watch the lights go on behind the empty eyes of mainstream reporters. We wish the former workers from the Bonnie Doon factory nothing but the best as they search for future employment.
